Oh btw, I tried the iron with the wet rag trick on the depressed plywood spot on the transom ..
Actually worked pretty well .. Didn’t take all of it out but it did take a good bit out ...
Picked up a piece of mahogany on the way home today . 5 board ft for 40 bucks .. I have to replace a couple of those seat base bracket thingamajigs and cut a few more plugs ..
Also the sil got me an early Christmas preasent .. His uncle was getting rid of this new scroll saw for a 100 bucks ...Been wanting one for a while ...
I see reason not to caulk as well but I had to say previous thought at a attempt to instill doubt and help you lie awake at 3 am wondering with anxiety and a mountain of indecisive thoughts
LOL ! Micky I don’t need much help being indecisive! I do that all by myself ..
If the planks were wider AND there was a solid band of wood around the edge of the bow to contain the planks I would most definitely be caulking the joints ..
‘And talking of indecision.. Everytime I’m out there the debate in my head is to stain or not to stain . Like there a little Sam on each of my shoulders each trying to sway me one way or the other :boink::whip:
After all this work the last thing I want is to screw it up ..:twitch:
What are u worried about?, if u dont like the stain, just sand it all down including the corners and crevices, then wood bleach the holes again and maybe replace all the plugs

make a test board with a few strips of mahogany, etc with plugs. stain one half, dont stain the other. that way if you dont like it, you only made an expensive conversation piece.
