To be honest, an outboard bracket is not something I'd attempt myself. There are places that make them, and I'd probably go with one of those.

I thought you were near Montreal? Wouldn't you have to get down past Tadoussac to get out that far?

I'm kind of with Arawak on this one. A bracket on a 19' boat would probably change the handling characteristics significantly. Why not a jack plate?

i am from montreal, but travel to the cape at least 3-4 times a year. your more then welcome to come :)

there is a few reasons i want to go that way my fellow gentlemen.

the properties and readings i have conducted confirm a bracket would give me a lot of benefits on most spectrum except on bad conditions due to the engine will sometimes will be out of the water for a split second getting some air in the system.

i do agree i dont what to undertake this project guesstimating how to build it. thats why im asking my fellow boaters for some plans. i do have to my disposal a buddy thats is a master welder and have stainless and aluminum to his disposal.

im still mostly worried about the counter leverage of the bracket to my transom during my 7-8 hours trailing to the cape thats why im leaning towards scrapping the project all together. ill just keep focusing on the essentials.

Yup, Understand. Do you have interior panels that will cover that area when the boat is complete?

yes sir...

i was more concerned if it was structural.

on another note all grinding is done.

Finally carpentry time. that is more to my liking.

Not clear on what the question is, but you'll want to grind at least 6" from the edge of the stringer.

Your construction is very close to mine, but I don't have that bulkhead.

i was talking about the white air bubble that runs along side the hull.

i was wondering if i need to grind that out and relay 1708 over that.

Have some updates!

cut all the stringers and the transom. My plan of joining all the 3 transom pieces together before gluing is not going to be feasible. Im going to glue one piece of transom at a time due to curvature in the transom. I wanted to do the mechanical bond like WOG suggests can i do it even if it only one layer. my guess is there should not be a problem but due to my "GREEN" in this department im being extra sure.

Thanks

well here is and update..

cut the main stringers laminated them together, glued the transom.

also on the "wings" i did my first batch of peanut butter. that was fun... not! my first try was definitely too runny got it right the second.

now need to sand over all the edges to get a smooth transition.

holly moly its solid!!!

this friday will be the strigers glued cut and hopefully get going on the bulkheads.

Spring is here in 2 months got get cracking!!

i have a question regards the chines or lifting strakes I think. Arawak filled then with foam then glassed on top of them.

1st question: do i need to fill them? why? i will like to understand the utility of them. is it to give more strenght/?

2nd question? can i fill them wit a 1inch laminated plywood flush or with a check to act like a mini stringer.

Thanks for the help i going to attacking that this weekend so any help would be great
