You don't need an impeller kit, Gibber. She has built in cooling. But a really long extension cord is required equipment for extended trips.

EDIT - I bet Frank A. would like to paint one of his murals on that blank canvas. Life size, even!

I wonder where I could get a set of "Whirlpool" 140hp stickers made at?

or was that a 3 pointed star?:joyous:

Gib, good thing.....the dist cap is like $120 :blue: i have the manual for a 79 (same manual for the 100 and 140, i think), so PM me if you have any Qs your manual doesn't cover.

Hey Gib - Do you have the optional ice maker for those having mixed drinks?

Whirlpool is the wrong name. You need this one - used to be part of Nash, AMC, Jeep, Chrysler lineage:

Of course using the above logic leads to this:

:laugh::laugh:

Ice maker eh?
I do like mixed drinks! :watermelon: It might have an ice chute on the back of the engine (air intake)

Re: 18' Starcraft Starchief OB Rebuild

Ok new impeller and gaskets installed, I found that the orig impeller had been getting a little water so just not enough water flow to hit the engine

I squished the giagantic lower into a $15 plastic garbage can  filled full of water and removed the thermostat + housing to confirm water was being pumped, and I had a nice waterfall flowing out!
turned it off and put everything back together, fired it up and let it get up to temp, it stayed a nice constant temp and flushed out the years of crap, after 30min or so it stopped smoking up my neighbors house :)

then I got the boat back in the garage and painted up the bottom and started polishing up the sides, today I'm a bit sore from all that sanding. :D

Re: 18' Starcraft Starchief OB Rebuild

Yeah pictures soon I swear!!! :D

I also had some issues with the paint, the guy at the counter that sold me on the stuff gave me a gallon can of the paint, and a iddy biddy can of hardner...
When I did the recomended mix I found I had just enough to fill the sprayer twice :twitch: so back to the paint shop some time this week for more!

I also had some spray gun user related issues, I had taken apart the gun for cleaning and forgot I changed all of the settings, I got the flow right but I did not have the spray pattern set right until near the end
overall it turned out ok anyways but I applied a little to thick in some places, and yesterday I noticed he had some weird texturing as it was drying... so I'll sand it smooth before I do coat #2.

I'm glad I'm learning how to paint on the bottom of the boat and not the top

Boat bottoms are good for practice unless the fish in your lake are art critics. :joyous: Sounds like you're getting the Chrysler purring. :D

i think of paint booboos on the bottom as being sorta like camo, confuse the fish and all......:)

Re: 18' Starcraft Starchief OB Rebuild

Hey Gib those tears in the hull look they may have been from a bunk or roller bracket thet failed.
glen

While working on the trailer I noticed signs that there may of been rollers at one point down the center, I assume after it punched holes the prev owner put a solid bunk down the center.

And while sand blasting I see signs of white paint or primer right before I hit metal.

The black paint that got put on there is very tough, I gave up on trying to get a smooth surface, to tough and I have a neighbor getting mad at the sand blasting

So now it's going to be a spot sand blasting to remove rust, filling primer + sanding to get a smooth surface, and finally black epoxy paint. :D

Re: 18' Starcraft Starchief OB Rebuild

well with the new spray gun, if I have it set correctly I don't get much overspray.

I miss that top I had on the boat last year, it shielded me from the neighbor... :) but it's dead thx to the snow (rip).

I also spoke to someone that knows paint the other day while getting more supplies, she confirmed that the hardner should of lasted the entire gallon, so the weird texture was related to the paint curing way to fast

So I must of wrote down the wrong mixture, but the kid helping me was new...

I also got some alumn cleaner, I tested it out a little sealing some key areas before I start priming, and it does a great job, it's a little acidic and but it cleans the metal to a bright white.

I also spoke to them about my top paint options, I want UV protection + being able to handle fuel and other chems in the splashwell, and she pointed out a 3 part paint, the extra 2 parts come in a gallon size only, and they cost a little more than the paint it self, so I'll end up with a full gallon of the stuff.
She said it's super tough and should handle walking on it as well, I do need to paint my front door once done with the boat, so I'll find uses for the left over white paint

Gib - you're supposed to use stuff from the house on the boat, not the over way around.

Hope you get the paint stuff all figured out.

my FIL thought I was funny, the wife was not amused.

I would of laughed too, but I was serious and had to play it off like :happy::distrust::apathy::numbness:
