Sorry to bring this sad sight back up, but you got to see the trailer for this movie. When BBO and I saw the end of this trailer we both thought of this picture and you!! :D

About 1:50 into the trailer is the scene that made us laugh.

The end of that video was extremely funny. You know that would suck if that happened to someone though.

That movie looks like it's gonna be funny as hell! I have a feeling the seacast will hold up a little better though:)

Hmm I couldn't get it to work....Well I did get the electronic voltage regulator today. I'm going to work on putting that on tonight. I'm still having issues with getting the tilt / trim gauge to read correctly. I'm trying to verify that I have the right one.

Ok the vidio link worked this time Mrs BBO.....I think that guy needs to search transom repair on the forum!

Tonight I replaced the rectifier with a CDI voltage regulator. More less Max's voltage regulation system was a little primitive....it worked great before we started putting electronics in boats. Anyhow I called CDI and they recommended this voltage rectifier / regulator. I think its more or less what they put on the later models, with an adapter plate. So the directions read like a sales guide.....remove the rectifier wires and two screws.....bolt on the adapter plate and the regulator...the connect the wires. 10 minutes right? Nope! The "kit" is a one size fits all.....so I had to mount the regulator in a different area than the rectifier due to its size.... Here is a shot of the rectifier, its the black rectangle with the yellow and red wires going to it.

Here is a wider view, the rectifier is at the top in the middle, I mounted the voltage regulator lower on the motor, on the right side of all the wiring, below the starter.

After figuring out where it would fit, I needed di-electric grease and some 10-32 pan head screws...off to ace and the auto parts store. I drilled and tapped new mounting holes, then mounted the regulator and adapter plate (think its also a heat sink)....of course the lead were too short so I had to extend them. Here is a couple of shots of the finished product.

I pulled her out and fired her up. I ran her at about 2K for 10 miniutes and the voltage never moved above about 12.2V. Hopefully that solves that problem. Here is a shot of the gauges at night...the depth finder is the really bright one, LCD.

I also changed the fuel filter....need to vacuum and I think we are ready for the next round of lake "test" next weekend!

Hey arch,
Sorry I haven't been around much. It took me awhile to catch up on your thread.
I hope that takes care of your electrical problems.
Those gages ;look real good too.
Take care my friend.

Nice job. I hope that solved your issues. Gauges look nice also. I think I might get me some of them. Mine are pretty crusty.

I moved the XM antenna to the top of the bow light....have I mentioned how hot it is in there on a humid, hot OK night? If you buy a cutty cabin with out AC here you are nuts! Other than that I just vacuumed her out...now we are set for another weekend of "test" runs. I'm also planning on studying the swim platforms.....with a beverage in hand of course. I need to figure out the mounting height and angle. I think that will be the next project assuming we have Max all ironed out.

I hear that. Another hour in the shop today and I would have been a big slab of well done BBO BBQ. I think I'll have a Shiner to cool off.:D

Yeah someone needs to turn the humidity down a few notches! Ah but the lake will solve that! Hopefully Max is happy now so we can get in a weekend of speeding from one beach to another for the hell of it!

Damn! There's alot of wires on max! I have like 4 total in starflite 3 (1961). I was at the boat place today and someone had brought in a starflite 4 (1962) because they were having issues with it. So I stood around and watched the guys work on it thinking this will be mine in a couple days/week. Turned out it was not getting compression on 2 of the for cylinders:eek: That got me a little scared for when mine goes in. Like you said arch- primitive- well mine is stone age- that's a good thing and a bad thing. Lucky I have a place that used to sell the motors back in the day who know what they are doing with them.

I hope your lake run this weekend is better than last and it looks like max is prepped and ready to go now. Your pic reminds me- I never hooked up my lights on my gauges:rolleyes:

I like the gauges, have to figure out what I'm gonna put in my boat when the time comes, but those are classy! Thing about engine wiring is, once you figure out where all of them go, then it isn't a big deal. It's when there are wires going places that you have not a clue as to what they do or where they go and why...that's when I start getting nervous.

Re: 16' Nescher ski boat complete restore- SPLASHED!!

Max does have a gaggle of wires! But it is pretty simple if you take the time to figure out where they go and what they do....like Red Furry said, its the ones that I don't know what they are doing that I worry about .

I really don't think I would change much Big Block....she handles and runs great. I would like to get the gas tank issue resolved....but I think that will be a next fall project at this point. The portable tanks don't bother me as much as I thought they would, Max has been pretty good on fuel. I just hate not having a gauge...I may re-evaluate the whole fuel tank debate.

The lake was good but wayyy too rough.....a storm blew through Saturday morning...the wind was blowing what I would guess was 30 or so....it finally calmed down some to where there were only a few white caps so I decided to put her in. Its about 4 miles or so from the ramp to my house....about 3/4 of which is on the main body of the lake. It wasn't to bad when I first got out and headed for the house ....but by the time I got to my cove Miss Morgan was bouncing around like a cork . Seacast rocks by the way, she is really solid! So we sat on the deck and had beverages / lunch. About 1:30 or so it died down some...so off we went. Given the wind, we just cruised to the island (beach hang out area) to see what was going on. We hung out there for about 4 hours...checking out the "scenery".....and chatting with people. The clown who owned this Carver wanted to trade it for Miss Morgan.....I told him he would need to cough up some cash too! :D

IMG_0407.jpg

After that we headed for the house and steak! With all the winds we didn't run her much but I think all of Max's issues are cured except the trim gauge. I guess that is this weeks project!

Thanks Vegas.....I was too busy talking to the scenery to take photos of them! Next weekend I will probably go out to Tenkiller for my friend David K's birthday party....his wife is "responsible"....I'll ask her to handle the photography work! Actually I hope we have time to get shots of Miss Morgan running from another boat!

Arch- glad to hear you got "most" of your issues resolved!

The real question is- did you take any of the scenery for a ride on Miss Morgan???:)
