    85 HP Drive shaft

I have a 1984 85 HP. 856X4L. While changing the impeller, I noticed the large gap between the shaft seal in the pump housing and the actual drve shaft. There is a groove worn on the shaft in the area where the seal rides. My questions are, how much wear is too much. I have calipers that can...

    Thanks to IBOATS People

Thanks to all who post answers. I read one a couple weeks ago about adjusting the carbs on a 85 HP. Book said 7/8 turn and then tweek. HAH. Nothing but stalling and hard starting. They also suggested a cheap try would be a fuel pump. Well, I bought a fuel pump kit from Iboats, and installed...

    Touchy Throttle

1989 200 hp Black Max OC199873 21ft Renken. The throttle is very touchy. When we push for more speed, there is very little increase until we hit a certian point. Then the engine will take off and plane the boat. We can for from there to WOT at about 5200 RPM. When we throttle back, it is pretty...

    Starter Problem-Solved on the water

Last Sunday we were out on Mobile Bay fishing. No fish so we tried to start up my 85 HP Force, and there was the ugliest noise. Popped the cover and the starter bendix was jambed into the flywheel. The nut, retainer and spring were GONE.... We did find them all in different spots in the...

    New to us, Renker

We just aquired a 1989 Seamaster 2280 cs. 21 foot. 200 HP Merc. Does anyone have one that could tell us what the holds in the deck are for. Looks like ice keepers to put the fish in after catching them. The rod lockers are obvious. Also, anything to watch out for. Seems in pretty good shape. The...

I have a 1984 16 ft Fish and Ski. The front live well does not have any hoses to it any more. Previous owner took them out. I have asked about tips to run new ones and I am ready to do that. 1984 Bayliner 1510 Fish and Ski

This boat has a front and rear live/bait well system. The front well's hoses are gone. I cannot see a way to run new hoses. Do I need to take the front and rear decks off to do this? I think they are screwed down. If I take off the decks, what kind of can-of-worms might I open up. The boat has...
