    A friend needs this Nissan outboard running, so my son is working on it. He has it starting, runs then dies.     We are working on an outboard for a friend, he has a fiberglass boat that has what appears to be near perfect wind shield, 2 spot lights and an emblem on the bow as well as the navigation lights for the front. I would think that the parts are worth than the whole boat. The windshield has a name...

    Have another thread on this outboard, those issues mostly resolved. When testing other issues I used muffs for water supply, and it did not pee! Peed well when in a trub of water previously. Removed the lower inspected the pump, see the round o-ring is missing in the housing that the cup presses...

    2nd picture is using copper wire to align the stater with flywheel. 1st picture removed wire and used bolts and aluminum plate to secure the starter.

    This belongs to my son, Montgomery Ward GG18736D it smokes and backfires after it gets warm and smokes like a on of a gun, when warm. But only after it gets warm. Backfires, I suggested checking the coils for cracks. Ask about peeing, said it is great. Interested in other ideas, Webekin

The starter motor, mounting issue is resolved, installed 1/4" screws 3" long in the two front manual recoil start mounting holes, used a nut on each to determine the height needed to clear the fly wheel, started out using 3/4" aluminum angle from screw to screw to hold...

    So I watched a you tube video, and I do adjust the idle speed with the lean/rich screw. So I would screw it in to reduce the speed. Thanks, Webekin

Now put the other starter from a 35hp Johnson on with just 2 bolts usable, spun over worked for about 4 key strokes then started slipping the fly wheel.
