    Alpha One shifting problems

Thanks for the info, gentlemen. I did a re-adjustment and found that the lower cable was a bit out of adjustment. I got it back together and it seems to be shifting OK now. Hope I can put her back in the the water soon and try for real.

I pulled all the cables loose at the engine and readjusted everything. The lower shift cable was adjusted too long. Seems to be shifting ok now. Still weird that it shifted when tilted up but not down. Now just more waiting to get another chance to put her in the water. May spend the...

    Alpha One shifting problems

For some reason that I can't easily figure out, my outdrive is not shifting properly when the tilt/trim is lowered. With the trim up, it shifts properly into Reverse, Neutral, and Forward; however, when the tilt/trim is down, I will not go into forward. It seems to work if the steering is...

Hello everyone. It has been a very busy fall and I haven't had a chance to try the boat until today. Here's what I ran into and need some guidance on. Previously, I adjusted the shifter and everything seemed to be working fine on the trailer. However, when I put it in the water this...

    Immediate delamination

Just a guess, but how vigorously did you roll out the glass to make sure you didn't have an layer of poly between the old glass and new? If I'm not clear on this, what I am poking at is that if you didn't roll out the glass vigorously to remove excess resin, then there could be a layer of too...

    Tippy aluminum houseboat

Not only does the fuel tank being so high through off the COG, but it could also cause a significant siphoning problem from the tank that could be dangerous. I agree with moving the tank down to the lower deck or below it. The adding of ballast could be good, also, if more is needed.

Dashboard update Four Winns Vista 258 1999

I did a replacement of my gauges as part of my rebuild. I opted for an "all in one" gauge for fuel, volts, temp, oil pressure. Also bought a new tach and trim gauge. My boat only has 3 now. I removed the speedo all together since I use GPS fish finder and am not really worried about knowing...

Yeah, the weather's just getting nice for boating here. Quite a while to go before any Winter weather.

WOW!! Has it really been that long since I made an update here. Since my last status, I did get the carburetor float adjusted and everything put back together, again. Also have done some cleanup from the mess that I have been making working on her. With Hurricane Ida, I have been...

You aren't kidding. I can't walk out the door without immediately sweating profusely. I have to do outdoors stuff in small spurts.

Picked up a fuel pressure gauge at HF today. Pressure at the carb was 5 psi which from my understanding is good. So, the problem must have been in the carb. Took off the top of the carb and no gas (or very little) in the bowl. It appears my float valve was stuck. Took it out and blew...

I was thinking the same thing. Both manifolds got changed out with new ones.

Tinkered with the boat yesterday; but having trouble getting it to start / run well. Odd since it started and idled quite a while a few weeks ago. Acting fuel starved. Gonna try to troubleshoot today if I can stand the heat outside.

    Gas tank access panel

I thought about leaving mine where it was removable, but decided against it. My main thought was that it is unlikely that I would need to get to the entire tank and it would be easy enough to just cut the section loose if I ever needed to.

Spent a couple hours yesterday afternoon installing a couple new water hoses, re-torqueing, and adjusting the trim sensor & trim limit switches. I think (with fingers crossed) that I have everything ready to go, again, for a launch. I won't be able to do it this weekend; but, hope that maybe I...

    Gas Appearing in bilge

Also, you may check your anti-siphon fitting / hose barbs to make sure it isn't cracked or has a hole. Based on your description of the running problem, I suspect a hole in your fuel line or a fitting. Maybe even the pick-up tube inside the tank (although this wouldn't explain the leak). When...

    Gas Appearing in bilge

I'm thinking it has to either be the tank (maybe a hole half way up the side), fuel line, or fuel pump. The build-up of pressure in the fuel tank from hot weather, could push fuel out through the fuel lines or a bad fuel pump diaphragm. If this is the case, then there is also a problem with...
