    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

Did more woodwork this weekend. Worked on the hatch covers for the casting deck as well as the wood closures for around the casting deck. I will take some pictures soon. While I am working this stuff, it brings up the question of sealing / bedding the edges between the deck and gunnel...

    Re-carpeting 18.5 Bowrider Need advice

Same advice here. In mine, I was hoping for a floor patch-up only, but quickly turned into a year-long stringer, transom, floor replacement. Inspect it good and make sure the boat is structurally sound before putting yourself or others in danger.

    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

Thanks. I was shooting to make it more functional. It gives me a bit more of a rear-deck to sit on for fishing or for my girls to lounge on while I'm fishing LOL. Wanted to keep the jump seats as well. The two black rounded parts came from the original enclosure. If they wouldn't have fit...

    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

Did the glassing (inside and outside) of my engine enclosure. Still have sanding and final fitting to do and then I will gelcoat it.

    Stringer contour question

I did a guesstimate on mine and used a belt sander to get it in rough shape by eyeball and then used PB to bed them.

    Transom getting replaced have ???

If you're talking about drive / motor installation holes through the new wood, then here is what I did. I marked the hole locations once the basic transom was shaped and ready to install. Then I took the new wood out and drilled oversized holes (I think 1"). I then filled these holes with...

    Building a '93 Caravelle 1750 Classic Bowrider

What kind of foam board is that you used for insulating your engine Thanks. I was wondering since I would like to do something similar in my bay and wanted to make sure that I put in something flame resistant, etc. that is suitable for marine & engine bay use.

Flotation Foam in Half of Boat

The USCG requires floatation foam in boats 20 feet and under. Floatation foam eliminates the necessity for all of the floatation chambers (think any air spaces enclosed on all sides with wood or FG) to be 100% air tight. It also protects those places against loss of floatation in cases of...

    Integrated swim platform leaking?

I've had, on numerous occasions, the bilge pump float engaging once the boat was trailered and being towed up the ramp. I attribute this to any water that was anywhere in the hull now running to the back of the boat by the bilge pump since the boat is in a nose-up orientation.

I am considering adding an overtemp alarm as well. Where did you get your kit?

Yes it is. Still a lot to do, but it is getting closer.

    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

Spent this weekend doing interior woodwork. Did the rough build-up of the engine bay enclosure and cut my gunnel trim panels. Here's pic of the engine bay enclosure. Obviously I have to do the finish fittups and gap closures as well as the fiberglass work. The jumpseat tops are just sitting...

2008 Tahoe Q6 Gas Tank Removal

In that case, the only way would be to remove the deck above the tank to replace the tank. When I was gutting mine for my rebuild, even once the deck was removed, removing the tank was a challenge as it was foamed in. But I guess if you're replacing it anyway, you could cut the old one out.

2008 Tahoe Q6 Gas Tank Removal

I would start by emptying the tank (siphon or pump from gas pick-up). At that point, remove the fill hose, vent hose, and if not already done, the fuel line to the engine and plug them off with something. Then pressurize the tank (3 psi) to see if it holds pressure. That should tell you if...

Adding a GPS unit to a bowrider

Just throwing that out there in case you had an older tablet (or phone) laying around. You could ger a good mount like RAM or iBolt to attach it firmly. Overall cheaper than a gps sonar. A helix 5 or helix 7 with GPS is a good option. If you dont fish, you can go with one without all the...

Adding a GPS unit to a bowrider

I simply screwed a RAM mount ball on my dash (to the right of the steering and out of the way of most gauges) and use the RAM system to hold and adjust my Helix 5. If you aren't set on getting a fishfinder GPS combo, you may consider a RAM mount or iBolt (RAM clone) mount for a tablet. I'm...

Is this a somewhat simple fix?

Take it slow and don't be surprised of the floor underneath the cracks is bad. Do a good look see at the wood underneath for any sign of water / rot. If it is just the paint cracking, count yourself blessed.

Is this a somewhat simple fix?

I would start buy sanding it back to feather and seeing how deep it goes. As long as it doesn't go all the way through to where there is any wood rot present or all the way through, I would just build it back up and paint/gelcoat it from there.

First deck replacement, I have questions

I would do a thorough check of those stringers. You mentioned a wet spot. If it's wet, it's bad and needs to be replaced. I would also check that foam and make sure it's not saturated with water. If so, it needs to be removed and replaced as well. I agree with TodHunter with regard to...
