Alpha Gen 1 Gimbal Transom Plate Swap

Do you mean the part that is held in by the pins that the outdrive bolts to? If so I’m pretty sure they are different for the drives with nail type pins vs the screw in pins

    MFS25 fuel in oil

If that is HPDI then it could be a mechanical high pressure fuel pump. Those can dump gas in the oil

    1925 Remington model 12 refurb

I wouldn’t re blue it. Use a real copper kitchen scrubber ( make sure it’s copper ) and Baristol ( I cannot spell it ) that will clean the rust and if it’s not bad you almost wouldn’t tell. I brought a 1936 Carcano back from questionable condition that way. milsurp rifles loose value if...

Lopi Travis Industries Radiant Plus Gas Logs no Thermostat Control

How do gas logs work? My house has a really nice hearth and mantle, last swept in 2022, we haven’t fired it since we have owned it. I’ve thought about a gas insert. We were planning on a wood stove insert but it voids our home insurance. They won’t allow it. We can however burn wood in the...

    Refurbishing a fiberglass bass boat

In general, fiberglass and any kind of metal is a general no no. Yes foam stringers could work on a limited hp lake that does not get rough water. But it’s the wrong way to go about it. StarCraft, Sylvan, Bluefin all made light weight aluminum boats that will do better with limited horsepower.

1988 26 foot bayliner trophy 262 king cobra

50/50 shot the boat is actually any good ( transom deck stringers ) unless you know it’s been restored correctly. Many old boats are deck over with pretty upholstery. Any of the boats of that age have rot if original. The 225 Merc could be great could be worn out trash

    Resistor wire

Cap the wire. Split the wire to the choke and use that as your ignition wire

    Resistor wire

Tie it with the automatic choke wire. It’s 12v key on power. It can share the connection

    Resistor wire

What kit did you use? Igniter 2 takes 3 ohm iirc. Igniter 1 gets 1.5ohm. You need to bypass the resistor wire, easiest way is using choke wire. Pertronix often doesn’t work right and burns up coils

    1988 Marlin needs windshield

Use the one from the 4 winns. Most likely the pane dimensions over the consoles are close. Then narrow or widen the center pane as needed. A good glass shop can do that

Mercruiser 4.5 versus Chevy vortec Base 4.3

you cannot gain stroke from a longer rod. You get stroke from the crank only. Changing rod length affects your rod ratio which does effect your ‘ power band ‘ if you will because it does change the geometry. But with the rod ratio you need to have matched pistons because if you use a longer...

going to buy a used mercruiser

I love a good running 3.7L too. But there is no denying it has bugs that Merc never worked out before pulling the plug on the project

going to buy a used mercruiser

Just so you are aware that is not a 2.5L. That is a 3.7L 165hp ( 470, 488, 165 are all 3.7L. Not a direct swap to a 3.7L from a 2.5L but can be made to work if you need to ( 3.7L is littered with problems though)

    Removing transom bolts Gen 2

Bolts are available new if you are worried. If your talking about the bolts that hold the inner transom plate to the outer assembly, they should be nylock nuts

    Pertronix Upgrade Question

Just run a wire from the choke coil.. purple wire is your resistance wire. But if you disconnect it and hook it to the choke coil it’ll work ( as long as the pertronix stays working that is )

    Suggestions on LongBlock Supplier

Be careful rebuilds are often a you pay for what you get type of thing. You hear horror stories of places like Jasper sizing rods and cranks individually to use up junk parts

    Mercruiser 120/140

Well, if you go too old, risers are different but you can swap any 2.5 or 3.0L without much issue. 1990 thereafter needs a different coupler but it’ll also work
