    Boat fabric for side boards

It is referred to as Coaming trim. You can go on the cheap at Joanns fabrics which I would only recommend if you are gonna keep it dry and covered. Or you can get the right material at Sailrite which will cost $15-$25per yd depending on the width and style.. If you have the patients you can do...

    Mercruiser 4.3 Prop Question

Incorrect statement. That IS an issue....if you are looking for top end speed.Your statement confirms that you have a prop that is a "pulling" prop.Low end torque /pull is for pulling tubes, water skiing, multiple occupants etc.A speed prop will do very little when you "punch the throttle".It...

    Badly weathered engine cover

Just clean it off with anything....Car wash, dishsoap, fantastic, etc .Just clean it off. Then try a small section with some cleaner wax or polish to see if any shine cones back up. I have seen quite a few Mercs with badly faded motor covers especially on the rear side.Worst case is you will need...

    Yamaha Outboard SLOW crank! Help!

If the starter is anything like the starter on my Jeep (which I dont think it is) a failing starter acts exactly like a failing battery.Slow crank.Got hit up with this twice on my Jeep and I replaced the battery both times with no improvement.Charlie

    Boat Cover

Assuming the trolling motor is easily removed ,I would take it home for the season.Better for the motor and better for your piece of mind.Shrinkwrap is the absolute best and carefully removed at end of season can easily be reused.Charlie

    Yamaha Outboard SLOW crank! Help!

Ditto on pull the plugs and crank it to see if it cranks strongly. Battery cables should also be inspected for creeping corrosion from the terminal and back.Charlie

200 hp Saltwaterseries lift motor engaging on its own.

Thanks,I pretty much confirmed it after a very close look yesterday. The switch is beyond sensitive.I only touched the switch without pressing it and it activated and wouldn't stop until I pressed it in the opposite direction.Unplugging it is an easy way to trouble shoot as previously mentioned...

Alpha one gen II leaking water near hydraulic hoses

Get to the lowest part of your bell housing assembly outside your stern. There are 2 Frankenstein neck bolts, one on each side. They are made of zinc.Unscrew them and replace them and make sure you install the rubber washer under each one.If your boat does not have these zinc's ,gone from wear...

Alpha one gen II leaking water near hydraulic hoses

As Bondo mentioned, the drive should be pulled for servicing and having the drive off will give you a better perspective of the bell housing and bellows condition which are surely ready to be replaced.Transom kit would be a good idea. There is also a rubber washer under each acorn zinc and...

200 hp Saltwaterseries lift motor engaging on its own.

Thanks for the reply Yam, I know exactly what he is saying. If you read one of my previous statements ,Im done for the season and I am fine with replacing a relatively inexpensive "suspect" part that I can do myself. When was the last time you could do a repair or part replacement for under $100...

Spoken truly as a nonbeliever of preventative maintenance. My motto is "When in doubt...Change it out"......( especially if its priced reasonably) .I recommend you keep your towing insurance paid up Boscoe. Charlie

200 hp Saltwaterseries lift motor engaging on its own.

Yes it seems like a simple unplug but my rig is home for the off season as of yesterday so I may replace it anyway in the offseason.Looks like a part that is les than $100 so why not replace.Charlie

The switch on the motor cowl seems extremely sensitive and engages the moment I touch it without pressing on it.I think Im gonna change this switch out either way if it is not cost prohibitive.I gotta look up the part unless someone here already knows.? Charlie
