2000 200hp saltwater series OX66 .I have noticed a few times that my motor seemed to be trimmed up further than I had lifted it.Just thought I may have tapped the button by accident.Same happened a few more times and then without the motor running I heard the trim motor engage all by itself for a second.Very strange???? Anyone experience this before.Charlie

Seen some crazy ground loops in action working with 12V marine wiring.

Check switch(es) and relays in the circuit.
Both capable of intermittent failures from wear.

Put a meter on the pin outs and wiggle the switch operator a few times to see if you could get it to fail "closed". Higher probably that it fails open, but it happens from time to time

Could also be a chaffed wire grounding out

Will have to take a closer look.I have had this setup for 5 years now with no issues and no work done to it.Will jiggle and see.Thanks

how many T&T switches do you have?
friend has had his dog lay down on the bow and operate the T&T several times while I have been in his boat .
you can always disconnect on switch at a time to see if the problem goes away

New relays ? If they are plug in. Might be old enough to just do them.

I have 2 switches, one on the shift lever and one on the motor lower cowling.Will be taking a closer look this weekend.I dont think the relays are simple plug in like on some Evinrudes

The switch on the motor cowl seems extremely sensitive and engages the moment I touch it without pressing on it.I think Im gonna change this switch out either way if it is not cost prohibitive.I gotta look up the part unless someone here already knows.? Charlie

Need to know the complete model identity to be sure of getting to the right part number switch.

You can simply disconnect the engine switch to see if the problem goes away.
Yes it seems like a simple unplug but my rig is home for the off season as of yesterday so I may replace it anyway in the offseason.Looks like a part that is les than $100 so why not replace.Charlie

Many folks that replace parts without knowing for sure that the part in the problem have a surplus of unneeded spare parts.

Spoken truly as a nonbeliever of preventative maintenance.My motto is "When in doubt...Change it out"......( especially if its priced reasonably) .I recommend you keep your towing insurance paid up Boscoe. Charlie

he is just saying, do some testing so you do not just throw money at a problem and hope it fixes something

Thanks for the reply Yam, I know exactly what he is saying. If you read one of my previous statements ,Im done for the season and I am fine with replacing a relatively inexpensive "suspect" part that I can do myself. When was the last time you could do a repair or part replacement for under $100 on any boat you have ever owned or worked on? I am a big believer in doing PM .I guess I am in the minority....hopefully not the case. Charlie

I test and make sure what is causing problems on my stuff.
replace what is needed when I am sure that is the problem.
that is just the way I am wired

And when you are unsure on said part???? Then what??? I replace a cheap part and continue to test on an expensive part.

if you have a problem and you disconnect a part you suspect causes the problem and that fixes the problem, that proves it was the problem.
then replace it.
guessing just causes wasted money
seems you do not need to be running the motor or even have it in the water to check
