    Primer bulb does get real hard. could be carb issue or bad hose pump valve.. normally one can feel the pump getting stiff when the carb floats closes up on a full carb.

    good decision . here isa good video on it...simple process be very carefull with the top carbon seal..they are very brittle check GC for water intrusion... some just refill mid-season if not at ease witha GC reseal job to service oldies the Johnson red book.. or white covers everything you...

    if it is a OEM fuel plug and won't clip securely try bending the locking lip out a bit.... so it catches the locking ring as long as fuel is properly pulled from the tank with no air it should be ok
