So, what did you do today?

I cant imagine puzzle piecing the random width stuff together. I am doing 3 1/4" random length and its still challenging to get each run to break right and stagger joints. I find it quickest to layout five or six feet wide swaths the length of the room and then nail them down. It takes an hour...

I need to edit the last pic so she doesn't see the empty jack bottle on the counter. Whoops.

making progress. So very painful. Note the pic of the "admiral inflicted torture device". She is smarter than I. She chose to have me do this while she is out of town welcoming the new grandbaby into this world. Healthy little girl "gracia" i think it spelled. All 20 fingers and toes. I...

So, what did you do today?

To me it came down to quality at a price. I have used the cheap stuff, less than $7/sqft, it was terrible, noisy, and didn't stay together. It was professionally installed. If I could afford the $10+/sqft stuff I probably would have used it. I just didn't have $10k for floors.

So, what did you do today?

I chose old fashioned nail down stain and finish yourself because ill end up with a better end result for the time and money I had. I've had the new stuff installed in other properties and for the price point I can afford it was terrible. Please don't give me the you should have blah blah...

So, what did you do today?

Admiral has bad allergies/asthma. Friends recently sent her pics of their remodel, doing it themselves, that included hardwood floors. She then decided the carpet was "literally" killing her and we needed new floors. I said " well, I got more time than money and I like you alive well enough."...

So, what did you do today?

The next time I say "I've got more time than money, I think I'll do this myself", please hit me in the head with a sledgehammer.

    Old air compressor?

It gets certified whenever the service company says so. I think they test it every 3nyears, maybe 5? Not gonna shell out 7 grand till they say. A lot of these ac threads are oveblown...excuse the pun. So much more likely to get a pin hole leak than a catastrophic failure. You can find any...

    Old air compressor?

Mines more than 50 year old Saylor beal. Maintained twice a year. Used daily. Never turned it off except twice a year to do the oil change and drain. Being a tenhp 120 gallon job at 200 psi, if it goes I won't even know.

    Alpha One Bearing Carrier Question

Bearing carriers are a dime a dozen at most shops...if you walked into my shop I'd send you to the pile and you could pick a decent one out. I'm sure most shops would be similiar.

    Derating a 5 hp ( ca, 1995 model) to 4 hp

Speaking generally. Air intake is a function of engine rpm sometimes combined with valve timing. For a restricted plate to be properly sized you need to look at a torque curve relative to rpm. You then figure the mass air flow at that point with the out put you are looking for. That would...

    Derating a 5 hp ( ca, 1995 model) to 4 hp

This assumes that the mass air flow to Kw output is linear. While I am not smart enough to put the reason this is incorrect in writing it is incorrect.

So, what did you do today?

Well, its that time of the year. Need a new shop calender. Now, in my opinion these should be free. I also think I shouldn't have to change my views. I spend thousands and thousands with my parts suppliers. I guess they think the whole world is offended. I dont want cars, I dont want...

So, what did you do today?

The only issue I see with the in tank pump is filtration. I plumbed a pick up in the metal box and ran that to a fuel/water separator filter then to the pump. Powering it with a deep cycle and battery charger till I figure out a power supply. I am going to switch it to a fuel injection style...
