Re-wiring my 78 mercury tower of power

Isn't there enough slack/extra wire to cut off the box wiring and solder in new wires? Usually the wiring harness is 20+ feet or more.

On 2nd viewing it looks like they were making a new harness out of separate wires. There's an upgrade in this diagram that simplifies and makes the wiring more secure

'99 Merc 115. Yellow stator wires fried.

Those corrode yellow wires look like they're from the rectifier and the connections should be replaced, the red ones could be from the regulator. At the right below the starter is another burned connector which looks like it's from the rectifier, it should be fixed too.

'99 Merc 115. Yellow stator wires fried.

My sister had a dead battery in her seadoo and she had someone boost it at the ramp; burned out the stator and part of the ignition system. Boosting is also bad news.

'99 Merc 115. Yellow stator wires fried.

Don't use the motor to charge a dead/low voltage battery; charge the battery to full with a charger and a deep cycle battery is not recommended, just a marine starter one.

There's a simple way to check for fuel in the carbs and fuel flow; tilt the motor all the way up then pump the fuel bulb, if fuel runs out of the carb throat(s) then it's probable that all's clear. This can also be used to flush the system. To clean the carb(s) remove the low speed needle(s) and...
