    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

Here we go got these glued up and a weekend of hot weather ahead of me. I got advice from my BIL who is a carpenter and his recommendations were to go () and to clamp it once I started adding weight so there was no shifting.

Thanks, I was planning on going )( for sure. I think my plan is going to be find to find my flattest looking piece of concrete and glueing them on that with a bunch of weights on top to flatten everything out. Glue will be Titebond lll (not TBll or l) since it needs to be waterproof.

S is for Starcraft SuperSport! The build is on! Still getting used to the metalwork. Carpentry is more familiar. Found out that my plywood developed a nice warp over the winter. Should have known better.I bet it would be more expensive now anyway so still counting myself ahead.

Thanks for the advice, I will still plan to marinetex, prime and paint the inside of the transom skin where it will be in contact with the wood transom. But I will not prime and paint any of the bilge area. Stringers cleanup done. Going to practice marinetex on a few spots on these first New...

Any thoughts on if I should prime and paint the stringers too?

Lots of surface area on these Stringers for the 22 footer. Next up for the hull is any pits on the shiny metal will get marine tex and then the hull will get Coat it. Then the transform and knee brace/bilge area will get etching primer and rusto inside and out.

Been working with the nyalox cup brush. Pretty happy with what I am finding. I think I am going to remove the stringers too where before I had just planned to re rivet them while in place. Should I do coat it sealing first? Or should I skim corrosion with marinetex first? I am worried about...

Ok so I need some advice on my transom pitting which I have been cleaning up with the wire wheel inside and out. Some of the pitting is probably halfway or more through the transom skin but no pin holes that I found. Lots of PO holes and I have not standard OB mounting holes. I have a new piece...

Winter here so not much work lately, still acquiring parts I will need. Got the Knee Brace removed on a nice day this Sunday afternoon, still pretty cold out. Did a pretty good job of drilling out the center of the solid rivets and although I marked a few edges I didn't oblong out any holes all...

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

Some new pics. Sanded the Transom down to bare Aluminum with the orbital. Then I got the splash well drilled out today. Pretty happy with the sturdyness of my knee brace with PO welded mods. My z bracket not as much and two of the rivet heads are sheared off on the port side. Some light...

Now that I have the transom out, the boat is tempting me to go the easy route and just drop a new transom board in that's the existing size. I'd then need to use a fixed jack plate to hang the 25 inch shaft on the 20 inch transom. Seems like the reviews on doing this are mixed where some would...

Transom came out today! Bent up this eyelet pretty good while it was still wedged onto the splash well.

Got the cap off and the transom moving the other night but not out yet. Ran out of daylight again which is getting short. It looks like the factory hammered in these top brackets on each side of the top of the transom, which is really holding onto it. Might not get too much done this weekend...

My reasons are that I have a 25' shaft Merc that I am planning on hanging on the boat. I also like the idea of having the power head higher up from the water line, and the higher transom means less chance of water splashing in the back. I plan to use the boat in the Delaware River/Bay and in the...

Also, I have a plan for how I want to rebuild the transom as a 25inch. The yellow would be a piece of aluminum welded where the red lines are to the existing transom skin. Then the green is a second piece of aluminum that is buttered on with 5200 to fill the existing holes. Going to send this...

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

After a lull in progress the work on Hydration Break is officially back in swing. I know everyone has been waiting for updates on this beautiful SuperSport 22. It sat with the cover off all summer so I had to give it a real good shop vac and power wash last weekend. No pics of how dirty it got...

Just how much bigger is a 22 foot super sport versus a 16 foot?

Here's some specs on the different size classic super sports. I have a 1976 22 foot and I say go for it, the 22's are rare. Note not to look at the V5 specs on this if you are buying the classic hull.

Thanks for all the tips everyone! With those bolts I pointed out being factory I will leave them as I do not plan to tear down the gunnels and rub rail for my build as they are pretty solid. I will need some Al patching on the gunnels where they meet the front sideboard supports, but that will...
