For good news I got some more stripping done over the weekend. I am having the internal battle of how well I need to strip this stuff since it is getting re-carpeted for the most part anyway. And I am thinking I will probably carpet the storage tray area behind the side panels too. I am going...

Ok I am looking for advice from the experienced StarCraft gurus on here. I was looking under the gunnels today, and I saw these bolts that seem odd to me. I am wondering if these were factory stock and are ok to leave in the aluminum boat? I am worried that they were added during the the...

Not alot of hull progress but we are making moves to keep the Hydration Break boat build moving forward. One workday this week in about 100* heat index. Spent time picking at the red bow slime with a screwdriver and needles nose pliers but forgot to take a pic. Got a bunch of it out and I am...

Thanks, I see the notch there and good intel about the anchor rope rubbing on the hull.

Nice Mariner! Looks great with the faux wood foam and you are flying out of the hole with the new 140. I am interested in your bow pulpit setup as I have thought about something similar on my build. Does that work as a permanent Anchor storage mount for you? Can you let me know how you use it...

Yupp I forgot to mention I did hit it pretty good with the Nyalox cup brush. I was planning on spray painting these areas but now I am thinking it might not be worth the effort to do all that strip and prep. Might just hit some of the places I want to gluvit real good with the second quart I...

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Got some work in on Friday with the stripper and a power wash. That damn adhesive is hard to get off I used a quart of stripper on port side and still don't have it all gone. After Sediment from the power wash got shop vacced out. Found a few small...

Celebrated the 4th with a night of fishing so not too much boat work done but I am still keeping up with little bits of progress. Only caught one catfish which was disappointing. My philosophy is big hook and a big bait will catch me the big fish I want, though I might miss some smaller bites...

Heat Wave in the 90s here in PA but still getting a little done at a time. Been drilling out all the snaps and assorted things on the gunnels. I want to make sure I get all the steel out of this boat, and some of this is definitely a culprit. I am wondering if this white I am seeing is the...

Thanks Waterman, I appreciate you following along with my project! I trust the knowledge that you have and I wouldn't be doing this project if not for this forum.... I was also thinking to take out and reinstall the fitting with plastic washers. It actually looks like there are already some...

Went and picked up new power today. Black Max 150. The guy had some work done on it and was running it, but got a buddy deal on a repower. So I get the Black Max which will need a prop and controls since he reused his. Fingers Crossed that it will be reliable for me.

Trying to keep getting little bits of work done at a time in the boat, and if I keep it up than eventually it will be done. Been drilling out old rivets on the ribs and keep cutting stuff off. There is definitely a bit of rusting steel hardware in the boat that I am happy to be rid of. Heres...

Of course a new Transom is the #1 item on the Do - Right list. I am thinking my plan is to close up the sides with wider wings and a regular outboard shaped cutout. I will probably 5200 butter and rivet on a new sheet of Aluminum to fit the new shape, and give me a clean slate for drilling...

Oh yeah we got back to back tear down updates coming your way. Sending Thanks to my neighbor who has a 13 bass boat with a 40 in his garage who donated two unused 5 gal fuel cans which unused to siphon out out my full gas tank. That allowed me to remove the fuel tank and vacuum out the rest of...

Was reading threads last night, and I think I saw Waterman say that he used only Helmsman Spar on the transom and floors? Will that truly seal the wood? I was planning on getting some of the Raka epoxy resin for that job, but I think that going Spar-only would be easier and would be some...

We have a winner! I was wondering who would be the first to comment on my welded up knee brace after I teased it in my original post. A few thoughts: Right now I am leaning towards leaving the bow of the boat untouched and making that a separate, later project. I have that dent up there that's...

Got alot more teardown done today. Sidewalls off, Most of the floor is out except for a small spot for the gas tank to stay in for now. Still keeping my motor mechanically rigged up for now. Everything in the hull looks pretty clean i need to get the tools and a plan for stripping the old glue...

What are people's thoughts on having two twelve gallon fuel tanks mounted above deck. I would put one under either side of the splash well, which should still leave me access to the bilge opening. Still need to measure to see what it would fit like. They are for sale on fb marketplace for...

Thanks for the opinions everyone, now if I do head in the direction of a repower, I won't be afraid to throw on an extra few hundred pounds of outboard, keeping to the stated range of 150hp. Went Striper fishing yesterday and while the trolling was slow, I managed to pull in this guy.
