He said send him pics, and just like that he said,I want it !We went for a sea trial saturday and the Islander now has a new owner. The lower shift cable gave us some problems but the...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

My thoughts on gas lines are;make them accessible,if they fail let it be obvious. If it develops a leak I want to know immediatly ,not when I turn on the bilge pump and start a fire or blow up! Filler tube for tank ,I have seen them on gunwales and sides of hull whatever works for you.

The novice build: 1968 Starcraft SuperSport V-16 "The Boat"

No scientific theory,I filled my 221 Islander up with water.Kept a sharp eye on the trailer tires.Used the trailer jack to vary the level of water.I used enough water to cover the splash rails. Rolled around under the boat on my creeper with a sharpie marking leaking rivets. Did this several...

    1987 Islander

I would carry my anchor, tackle and coolers up front to keep the bow down. I have a freind who swears he used to pump 60 gal of water into the bilge when trolling for walleye on Saginaw Bay. My 19' Islander is light in the bow so I moved a battery for my kicker into the bow and that...

    21' Holiday Rebuild

I think, unless you have done extensive painting ,we boat rehabbers are too critical of our painting efforts.Your paint job looks nice and shiny and 100% better than what we all started out with!Looks great from here.

    Islander gas tank support

No foam in the tank compartment in my boat, rivets were 3-4 inches away from tapered bottom of tank which fit snuggly in compartment.

    Islander gas tank support

Starcraft used untreated unpainted plywood in my 86 Islander. It lasted 35 years.By the time my plywood rots the rest of the boat will probably be ready to make soda cans.

    Islander gas tank support

My Islander had 1/2" plywood also.If I remember correctly it was about 12" wide and as long as the fuel tank.I painted 2 or 3 coats of oil based paint and rivetted it to the ribs. Stayed to the outside of the plywood with the rivets because the bottom of my tank is only 8" wide at that point and...

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

Can you buy 5200 by the quart? LOL. I would solid rivet a 2x2 angle thru the bottom then apply 5200 then rivet the new skin over the old transom.Pay attention to outside edges and holes in old transom and make sure you hit that angle you installed.Maybe install small patches on inside of hull.

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

WOW!! thats some pretty bad corrosion. So just thinking out loud, what causes this? Stray electrical current, galvanic reaction, type of water boat was used in ,aluminum composition used at factory. I have stripped down 6 aluminum boats and found steel fasteners used and lost under the flooring...
