    1968 StarCraft Holiday restoration

Its been a while since my last post so I figured it was a good time for an update. After getting the boat on the water upon completing of the last rebuild I started having more engine issues. This time it was an excessive amount of blow-bye that was sending a good amount of oil right back into...

Getting some work done on the doghouse and the teak swim step. I'm planning on having a stainless grab bar above the step to hang on to but I ordered the 24" wide one by accident and that will not look right.

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

Not sure on best place but I went with Total Boat 2lb, I'm Happy with it. I would imagine any 2 part closed cell foam from a reputable company would be about the same. It really stiffened up the boat a lot.

Sharp Boat and welcome. I'm not sure you will find anyone that would part with one (they are kinda hard to come by) However there are a lot of companies out there that will custom make one to your specifications. Check with awning and or upholstery companies in your area.

Ordered a new anchor, line, bumpers, and parts to put together a swim platform yesterday. I'm going to need more boat dollars. The accessories really start adding up quick.

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

I have, rear main thrust bearing for one. I was able to find 1 for sale luckily. It was new old stock and by the looks of the box was at least 30 years old. All the other bearing are standard an used in other motors but the rear main is wider by about 1/8 of an inch. Some of the older engines...

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

its still in production but they are not really the same engine. the older ones are really getting hard to find parts for. the newer ones can be adapted to work with the older drive setups but require some different parts, flywheel, engine couple etc. They are good motors though

    1965 Starcraft Holiday Restomod

That might be your best bet. I've been through similar situations on my project and finding a part that works as is will likely save a lot of time and money in the long run. I just worked may way through a bunch of weird engine things from my frankenstein motor that someone pieced together. I...

It was really old stuff, definitely not the same type of styrofoam we have today. But yeah, I was surprised as well

    1980 Holiday 181

I'm curious about this too. It seems like the rivets could add some difficulty to this but maybe it can be done. I know I've seen issues when dealing with small details like this on vehicles.

I would like to add insulation back to the inside of the doghouse and was thinking of using rockwool or a similar product that is not likely to catch fire. It originally came with styrofoam insulation so fire apparently wasn't a concern at the time. Anyone have any experience on this?

    1968 StarCraft Holiday restoration

Paint shipment arrived last night and 2/3 of my order is on back order. Don't you just love when people sell you something they do not have? :( I had herd there was a pretty big paint shortage so I'm not too surprised. I guess its a good thing I'm not planning on painting until later in the year.

    Flotation foam

There are a bunch of good brands out there so I would just check around and see what people are using. I would be wary of any off brand products though because this is not something you want to have to do more than once. you will want to account for the density of the foam as well. Higher...
