Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Thanks, I considered those. Never considered the parts house replavmcements but that’s a great idea. I doubt I can do that with mine. I got caught up wanting the rocker look and lights.

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Thanks Moserkr, I’m trying to do just that. Not many of us know our expiry date, but the look at my mortality has me making changes in my life to not only enjoy but do everything I can to prolong it. There are many people who survive this long term and I intend to be in that group. Getting...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

thanks it was a real kick to the boys but you have to keep positive and fight or the alternative doesn’t look very good. Any thoughts on the switch type that I bought? Have you used these before with reliability?

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

I would yes. Equal both sides. In case you want to put the pump on that side (and I would so it’s not in the way of reaching the plug) and for cleaning. Aside from that your build looks great

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Update: Project is still mothballed. When I titled this thread, I had no idea just how accurate that would be. This spring, I went to war. I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. I thought I would be able to work on the boat in and around treatment, but I didn’t have it in me. I’m now 8 weeks...

    Constant high pitch alarm?

So I pulled the thermostat. Nothing stuck inside. No debris anywhere to be seen. I ran it while it was removed. Motor stays stone cold. no alarm. Telltale stream was not as strong. Absolute ton of water coming out of the blubber holes. Next week I’m going to perform the telltail mod. And...

    Carburetor clean versus carburetor rebuild

Thanks everybody. I think this time anyway, I will go to rebuild kit route. Just to get the white metal plugs at least. I’m not working due to my health condition at the moment. So I do have lots of time however that being said I don’t have much cash or energy. I think in this particular...

    Eco carb cleaners?

Aside from those using ultrasonic parts cleaners, does anyone use any alternatives to carb cleaner? I’ve heard of people using pinesol cleaner to soak in. I just finished chemo, the last thing I want to be around is more chemicals!

    Carburetor clean versus carburetor rebuild

Would you mind elaborating on how ultrasonic units work? I am now looking at one on Amazon for about $100 Canadian. Just wondering what I should know about ultrasonic cleaning machines and solvents. Will these allow me to clean a carb without pulling the small white metal plugs etc? These...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Picked up another motor today. I had a 50 hp evinrude triple on it but I was using that one on my trottage boat last year. Had running issues I couldn’t sort out, so I pulled it for a poor running 70 I had kicking around for a future rebuild. Todays motor grab was a 1989 60 hp evinrude. It’s...
