Need help with a model number

Thanks Racer, it’s not a tiller. Perhaps the midsection came from one. Or did dealers perform conversions on new motors back in the day? Something on the cowl tray looked funny come to think of it I’ll have to go out and look at it

Need help with a model number

So I dragged another motor play with this afternoon. I think it’s a 1989 60 hp Evinrude. I can’t find the model number on a look up. It’s E60ttlcea. It almost appears that the extra “T” causes the problem, because an E60tlcea shows up. Thoughts anyone?

    Carburetor clean versus carburetor rebuild

Thanks guys. My username gives my cheapness away a little bit. Currently on a fixed income so any little bit helps. Thought maybe I could get away with just fuel bowl and intake gaskets as opposed to rebuild kits.

    Carburetor clean versus carburetor rebuild

Hey guys I know this topic can go in any engine for them however I’d like to know when it is that you simply clean a Carburetor and when you do a full on rebuild? I’ve been through a few carburetor rebuilds, that once I tore into them, appeared to need nothing. Rebuild kits are expensive and...

    1986 Johnson 60 sounds odd

Sorry to be confusing. Two-stroke motors have sort of a rough rump rump rump sound or “ring – ding – ding “ sound to them when they’re idling. And the motor will shake and twitch. This motor runs absolutely dead smooth. Has no rump rump rump or twitchy “Head shakes”. So when it is running it...

    1986 Johnson 60 sounds odd

Was out fishing in a boat that had a 60hp Johnson that I sold a few years ago It sounds odd when idling. Sounds more like an inverter style 4stroke generator and not a 2stroke. Super quiet. Super smooth. Similar when cruising across the lake on plane but not WOT. No stalling, lean sneezes or...

    Constant high pitch alarm?

Thanks, I’m starting to wonder about blockage. Either crud or impeller shrapnel. The aluminum boat it came with was completely covered with growth on the bottom (lake water) possibly zebra mussels.

    Constant high pitch alarm?

Coming back to this, so it is overheating. New thermostat, previous owner had it removed completely. No tell tale mod. Pee stream strong but getting hot, thermo housing too hot to touch. Any thoughts on what I can do without pulling boat out of water? My park launches all boats at a cost and...

    StarCraft kingfisher rebuild

Agreed but don’t discount using it in voids above the floor just in case you get completely swamped while running heavy. It could prevent total loss and/or give you time to bail

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Hey does anyone know of any free and easy software I can use to create schematic diagrams? I want to plan out my build on paper so I can build the harness on the bench. My hand sketches may take a lot of wasted paper. I have some AutoCAD knockoff experience though I feel that AutoCAD might be...

Thank you. Come to think of it that was suggested and I’ve done this a long time ago. But this project has gone on so long, I’ve forgotten A LOT

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Anyone have any luck with these style T connectors? I know I can rig up a y connection but I don’t like the heat shrink method. It allows moisture in.

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Also, my fuse panel supply, if the total of all fuses should every item be drawing full amps equals around 38amps, should I round up to 50amps for future upgrades or just to be on the super safe side? Means going to 4ga from 8ga cable which seems nuts. Both do actually. Does this sound like...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

More taking stock and planning my electrical needs. Question; I have a pile of waterproof led lights that I’m going to install around the interior of the boat (under gunnels and helms, near floor on v bench riser etc. Would you guys run power and ground’s to each individual light, or run all...
