Yeah, it really is pretty ridiculously priced for what it is. Never would've guessed people would be selling umbrella canvas like its cashmere. lol Looked into a super basic new camper top before for my Super Sport once and the rough estimate was more than the old boat with trailer cost so that...

Definitely, reshaping a fiberglass roof would not be easy or fun! The hatch opening is all you need. I was thinking of the pop up style roof that some Catalinas have like my friend's 22. Seems it was an option bc most I've seen don't have this. It opens upward and forward on 4 little pieces of...

Oh I think you'd regret losing the little galley.. Cockpit grilling is awesome but cooking a hot meal in comfort on a cold rainy night is just as great! The standing room thing is really important in my opinion too, that move makes a lot of sense to me. I heavily modified my whole ceiling...

LED: Damn... I'd send em right back to if you can, that's ridiculous. I can't stand buying things new that don't even work one time. I've had soo many DOA parts over the years, I just expect it now bc it seems like that's getting more and more common these days unfortunately... And of course...

Are we talking moving galley so it is starting at the cockpit port wall going forward along port side? (Replacing port settee) Or are you saying putting it against the cockpit wall, half on port, half starboard? I like the v berth foldable extension idea!

New to me 1976 starcraft 25 mk IV with 165 merc. Looks good, runs good for a 46 year old boat.

Don't know how I missed this thread. Awesome boat!! Looks great white, very clean look with the camper top too. She's a real beauty. These 25's are gettin really rare. Great to see one so original, still in her prime, and so well taken care of!

Awesome, and thanks for the detailed directions! Cork guard is a nice touch. Thinking I'm going to have to make one of these. But maybe with fixed rubber hand truck tires at front bc of my damn moonscape yard and complete lack of smooth floors in the shop.

That is a sweet setup you made, very professional looking too! Is that a trailer tongue jack and an engine stand that you used to make this?? Very clever repurposing idea. I just might have to copy this if you don't mind.

The factory railing would be nice to start from if you can find one. Got a few months to shop around before the warm weather returns at least! Any marine salvage yards around where you are?

Nice, how big is that 18w panel? Are you planning on mounting this in the rear somewhere with your BBQ setup? I bet you could mount it under a piece of plexi for extra protection and use it like a grill table!! That would be cool. "Eat your food damnit, the batteries are gettin low!" 😅

Thanks and you know, it's funny you say that bc it was driving me crazy too.. 😬 I kept wanting to weld it but I am not set up for aluminum right now. Belt sander sounds like a good plan.

Thanks! I am stripping the worst areas but bc of the age and unknown condition of the MC-1 I am not going to take it all apart to get to all of the inside surfaces.. I am just scuffing up the areas that have really solid paint on them still and they'll be painted over.

Luckily a bunch of the worst parts of this project that I was truly dreading weren't Half as bad as they were in my head. In a way, it's good to look at it as a mountain bc once you confront it head on- you're over the little hill in no time. I might change my tune once I'm doing the drive...

Haha that's right! That stuff was really on there but a good stainless wire wheel (sharper) and low amp angle grinder took it off nice and easy. Hopefully have some updates soon!

They definitely don't seem to be malicious to humans naturally so I think you're right, these gentle giants must've been tormented before. Like a dog that cowers or shows its teeth if you grab a rolled newspaper- that behavior didn't just happen on its own. Read about SeaWorld sometime!
