Couldn't stand the crusty old paint on it, that crap definitely had to come off!

Thanks, I'm really liking this color! Will make it real easy to see in the water and on the trailer. I think it will get another 5 or so light coats probably. Putting them on light bc this stuff really likes to run.

It really is weird. And no, they're definitely not normally known to attack like that, the recent events are truly unprecedented and it's not like this is happening all the time. But- so far the attacks remain a mystery to scientists.. I would tend to believe, being the highly intelligent apex...

Rest of outdrive cleanup resumed. The old shift cable was a bastard to get out. Had to cut the cable to get a thin deep well socket on there. Didn't want to budge, thought for sure it was just going to sheer off. Luckily after rocking it back and forth a little I got it out of there. Still...

Rest of MC-1 will most likely be just black. This is mainly for extra visibility.

I have 3 words for your cringe. Gloss Popsicle Orange 1st coat, pretty hideous. But slowly the green stopped shining through.

Yeah, mine too! lol I'm no Coast Guardsman but I think he's right about the 20 and under. I bet a lot of manufacturers just threw it in there to be safe on models close to the regulation size. I almost went no foam on my boat but last minute decided to load it up big-time after reading about all...

Solid plan man, I'm basically doing the same approach with a number of things on mine. The wiring is the more important (and time consuming) work, swapping in newer switches later should be easy. Looking forward to seeing this baby in the water!

Yeah, the whole thing is going to be repainted since it will be in the salt. I've had the new impeller laying around quite a while but wasn't ever able to get this thing open bc of the anode bolt. Finally got that out today and the last bolt the anode was hiding. The impeller I think got melted...

That lug on the top really wasn't the worst idea on the MC-1. Paper clipping with pop at 6.5 billion = outdrive mouse nest circa 2005.

Looking good! I see you got yourself a nice big group 24 battery to play with. Not sure if switches like that are still available, or not.. Shoreline marine has similar looking black toggles but not exactly the same. Is there a brand name visible? I only see an F.

So they filled those areas with little foam scraps? I was expecting the spray in stuff. Well that'll be way easier to remove!

302 has been winterized. No splash this year, will have to wait until spring.

    Mercruiser 188 Open Cooling System

Yes, I did and you're right, one on each side. The two threaded plugs (about 1/2 I'm guessing) are just above the oil pan, one front right, other back left. Each Dumps out coolant, about 2 gallons each and noticed they are not connected as one went dry and then pulled the other and it drained a...
