1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

Have you cleaned (sanded) the terminals (battery to solenoid stud, solenoid to starter)? Also, what gauge cable are you running for those connections and how long are the runs (hopefully the cranking battery is under the splashwell and not the center console)? How old is the cranking battery...

if you're referring to the aluminum tops, I use jbweld smeared on an aluminum backer. tape the aluminum backer to the underside of the aluminum sheet until it cures, then sand smooth. MarineTex also works well for this.

    Jump seats

yw! I learned by reading a few publications from the Gougeon Brothers (link). in a nutshell, my approach is as follows: before sealing/encapsulating the plywood, I form epoxy plugs wherever fasteners will be used...it takes some planning. once the plugs are formed/sanded flat, cut glass...

    Jump seats

for sealing plywood (esp douglas dir), you really should reinforce the resin with fiberglass to prevent grain checking (checking cracks the cured resin allowing water intrusion to untreated wood.) if you planned on just coating the wood with resin without glass (ill advised), epoxy is going to...

    1978 Supersport 18

Welcome! Congrats on what appears to be a turn-key boat...with the desirable "swoosh" stripe! Did your FIL do a restoration on it? If not, be sure to have a working bilge pump since she may take on some water; often times these old tinnies have a few leaky rivets, corrosion and/or fatigue...

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

those off-the-shelf cushions look custom! I'm not familiar with those merc/mariner TnTs but if it's following what seems to be standard, the switch is likely controlling one of 2 relays. If there's a green & blue wire, I'd check the one with a blue wire (sky-up) activating the relay.

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

yep, the hole you're pointing to is the one I'm referring to; I don't think that's for a "lubrication" fitting (aka a Zerk). I have no idea what it IS actually for though. 🤣

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

I could be wrong but I believe the zerk in your picture is the one circled. That one makes sense since you're greasing the pivot pin. If you could slide in a rivet into the backside of that empty hole, what on earth are you lubricating? (8 bucks for a single zerk is highway robbery)

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Ah perfect...just saw a few posts back that you had to use the tilt to mount it on your low-rider trailer. I'm surprised you weren't able to pick the bow up with the tilt. Regardless, I'd get a few runs on her esp with the tach hooked up before going nuts with props & weight redistribution.

Starcraft On The Water!!! Congratulations for a great 1st outing & a boat-load of smiles!! If you haven't already, try adjusting the trim (i.e. moving the trim out will lift the bow). You'll have to do it manually on this engine. What kind of RPMs were you hitting?

Yep...definitely between a rock and your obsession with perfection! 🤣 If you do tackle it, i'd definitely stabilize the areas that aren't dorked...maybe wait until the benches are secured and add additional bracing to the top of the gunnels. in the images, it appears it's all extruded...
