    Thermostat cork gasket

When I changed mine last summer, I put in the cork gasket and the plastic protruded from the housing. Almost looked like it bent the lid when I tightened it down. So I removed it. I just used the t-stat, plastic part, and seal under the lid. Runs fine

Ran motor (in driveway) without oil in lower unit?

How often should these be replaced? Is there a recommended maint schedule? I cant imagine a visual inspection would be sufficient when its made of neoprene/rubber.

Replaced the Boat jack bearing today

The trailer is a 1995 Trailmaster 3500. Now that the boat is winterized, Im looking for projects to cure deferred maintenance. The boat jack seemed pretty rough, gritty when cranking it up. When I disassembled it, it looked like it was never greased after leaving the factory. I could have...

Alpha1 350 raw cooled boils and ticks rapidly after short time on muffs

drill a 1/8” hole in the t-stat flange. This will let air escape and reduce air pockets. There is no downside to doing this.post pics

Alpha1 350 raw cooled boils and ticks rapidly after short time on muffs

Might be time to pull the circulating water pump. A new pump is about $100 and easy to install DIY

Alpha1 350 raw cooled boils and ticks rapidly after short time on muffs

Were the hoses rerouted when the dry joint risers were installed? It wasnt overheating before you swapped hoses? disconnect the fresh water supply, crank the engine and see if the impeller is working.

    cover prop for winter?

I removed the prop and made a canvas outdrive cover from an old boat cover. When the prop costs $800, its better if I remove it than someone else. Drive in the down position. The cinder block is to keep the skeg from touching ground if the tires go flat

Ran motor (in driveway) without oil in lower unit?

Yikes! That rusty bolt should never have been used. Its probably FUSED to both halves of the outdrive. Might try something like Shielding the drive and hit the bolt with a small propane torch. you need to break the bond before it will want to move.

Is fogging oil different than it used to be???

I noticed it as well. I used about half a can of Starbright at idle and let it lug to a stall, no back fire. No smoke at all. I also filled the block with antifreeze but left the exhaust drained and empty just in case the manifolds are leaking. Keep the valves from rusting

    Exhaust Flappers too tight

That was not my video, but someone else who found the revised part wasnt a perfect fit. If it were me, I dont think I would have started grinding on my exhaust to fit a plastic part. They range from $15 to $80. And the Y pipe is much more $$ to replace. => where did you buy the flappers from?

    Exhaust Flappers too tight

Im guessing on this, but I dont think the new version is supposed to fit in or by those holes. The new unit looks to be self supporting And sits on the edge of the y pipe. Once the rubber boots are installed, its locked in place. Correct me if Im wrong. My boat is in storage, so I wont deal...

    Exhaust Flappers too tight

Chris, which flappers would my 1995 Rinker 212 5.7L have? What year did the change over occur? Im buying parts now for the Spring dewinterizing. serial# 0F436337

    Exhaust Flappers too tight

Doing a little surfing on fleebay and there seems to be design differences between flappers. The cross bar / pivot point seems to be plastic or metal. The plastic looking units may just be metal that was overmolded. It also looks like you can just buy the flappers without the perimeter frame...
