    Spark comes from the coil, and enters the center post of the distributor cap. The spark is controlled from the points and condenser in the distributor. The rotor rotates and sends spark to the correct plug.

    You have to order the correct gear ratio drive. They come in different flavors depending on your engine. The 4.3 uses the 1.84 or (1.81 if SEI) gear ratio. You can sometimes get away with a different ratio with a prop change, but if your buying new, no need for that.

    The black wire from the distributor goes to the (-) terminal on the coil. There's also a black ground wire on the electric choke, and a black ground at the shift interrupter switch.

If your just now setting the distributor in the engine, you'll want to set the timing tab so the mark on the harmonic balancer is at 4º before top dead center on the tab, on the compression stroke for the #1 cylinder.
