    Looking at 8hp and 15hp 4stroke Merc

I'd go with the bigger motor, more power if the weather gets bad. Yes the steering arm would be good to have, as you could be at the helm and more comfortable.

Keeping the rain and wind off us on the water

Not sure on your model, but yeah those center consuls are open to weather. Maby check with the mfg about a bimi that fits correctly, and will cover the aft area a bit. You could have something made at a local shop that works with canvass. Regular plexiglass yellows fairly quickly when exposed to...

Alarm Sounds when batteries switched on and no key in ignition

Glad you got it sorted out. A bit different than most, us those float switches don’t work, seldom get stuck on. Unless it was the beeper itself, I’ve seen them short and keep running.

    Any Archers, archery hunters here?

Been out there, no deer yet. Couldn’t get set up till last week. Did have a horny 4 point running around me yesterday, couldn’t get a shot as he was going nuts looking for the doe bleat I was using. Kind of comical watching him. Did have a nice 8 on the cam. Hope he comes in when Im there.

    Are All Boats Repairable?

If you find to much corrosion and can't find another boat that suits your use, you could make a trailer for hauling stuff. Done that myself.

    Misters

We had a couple of boats with them at the marina. When they came to winterizing we were lucky we spotted them. That and window washers are on some boats also. Those boats were from out of the area as the owners were traveling around all over the place. Of corse they had no idea how to service...

    Misters

Well, start at the mister pump itself, check for power with the mister turned on. Or just look for a fuse or breaker and check there.

Alarm Sounds when batteries switched on and no key in ignition

I've cleaned lots of those gear oil reservoirs over the years. Problem solved. When servicing the lower unit, the reservoirs sometimes will empty and then the float will drop down into the sludge, It stays there till cleaned.

    Pumping out oil from dipstick

I take the hard plastic tubes and set them aside. Go to the local hardware store and get a clear flexible hose that fits the dipstick tube snug. Attach to the pump and tube and pump out the oil. Easy, cleaner and quicker.

If your old rim is not bent, and not rusted beyond repair, you could sandblast it and re-paint.

Motor knocking. Mercruiser 3.0 alpha 1

Sounds alot like mine. I figure if it blows it's no big deal on it. it's my beater boat that only stays on a lake only a mile and half big. 350 acre lake. I'm thinking it's lifters, but on by rebuild boat I found the fiber cam gears were missing half the teeth. This coming spring I'll...

Bass boat restoration and i need a bit of help.

Yes. Pullig the cap on some of them requires you pull the sides all the way to the windshield. I had a friend that needed a transom, when I checked it over, it required it to be pulled that way. He took it to a local shop and had them do it. It turned out perfect but a little labor more than most.

Aq 151a winterize first time. No water came out

Yeah, that hole will get ya! I tape it off with shrikwrap tape, but duct tape works also. Years ago I had a dry stick I wittled to fit snug, kept that stick for years in my tool box till I misplaced it.
