Keeping the rain and wind off us on the water

I have a 2019 Blackfin 212CC (21ft center console) with the hard top and tiny windshield. I am trying to figure out a plan for how I can keep the wind and rain off us as much as we can next year.

I was thinking I could get some brackets and mount plexi glass on the hard top posts and that would limit the amount of wind and rain coming into the helm area we spend most of our time when running.

My goal is we can stand or sit at the helm and be comfortable even in heavy rain or wind but still be easy enough to get up to the bow from the captain's chair so that I can do what I need to, to handle the boat

What options do I have?

Not sure on your model, but yeah those center consuls are open to weather. Maby check with the mfg about a bimi that fits correctly, and will cover the aft area a bit. You could have something made at a local shop that works with canvass. Regular plexiglass yellows fairly quickly when exposed to the elements.

do the forward legs of the T-top have sail track welded to them so you could put side curtains?

I didnt see any

that is a very narrow boat. you will need to probably run side curtains out from the top down to the gunwales. which will limit you from getting to the bow.

Most people I know running center consoles without a pilot house just wear swim goggles and get wet.

Having something made is probably the route I will have to go. I doubt I can find anything for a boat this small. Open is exactly what I wanted however I bought the boat before I got the girlfriend who hates the pain of the rain and hates getting too wet so I got to solve it if she is to come out with me. Sadly due to a heat restriction she has sunny days are out 50% of the time.

No it does not have sail curtains on it though that could be an option to install. It is narrow ish though fits well for single handed running the majority of the time. The curtains limit me to the bow but I think they would be fine if I could just pop them down to let me jump up front around the docks. That it my main reason for needing the bow.

I just used sunglasses and wore a good jacket this summer however my girlfriend isn't good with that as she said it hurt her face a couple times.

This is why I don't like center consoles...I would never have a boat without a windshield, bimini/hardtop, and canvas isinglass.

That being said, you could get a t-top and close the console off with full plexiglass windows or canvas.

Center console (splash) curtains are all the rage anymore. Know several guys that have them for their boats.

Works well, but not cheap unless you have a canvas guy in your club ;)

yep , my missus got sun stroke the other day when the mounting points on the bimini cover snapped off the Maxum , seems bimini fittings are not made for 60mph .
yea i got a ear bashing for killing the bimini and going too fast ,double whammy there for me (y).
Op i know where you are coming from , the missus likes going in the boat but , wind , rain , sea spray from crashing waves and sun sure puts a dampener on her experience ,all these things dont bother me in the least but you know we gotta do what we gotta do to keepem happy on the boat.

Visit your local custom boat cover shop, they should be able to fix you up. Years back I had a CC with a full bimini, front igloo, side curtains and aft curtain. You could acess the entire boat while under cover. You just had to zip and unzip some zippers to get out from the cover, various pieces zipped together or taken off depending on what you want to do. Not cheap, but a very effective solution to your problem. Should you choose to make something yourself...never use plexiglass, only lexan !! Plexiglass breaks easily, turns color over time, more easily scratched, where lexan (polycarbonate) does not break, stays clear, can be drilled, cut, sawed etc without breaking..
Winter has arrived, get a custom bimini full cover made over winter, better pricing and be ready to go in the spring !! Your GF will be so happy she may want to show you how much she likes it !!!!!
