    jus for info... plug should have 5 pins.. colors should be: blk... ground pur... switched hot gray.. tach sig. tan/blue... warning buzzer/beeper brown/wht... trim gauge should be a loose tan at tha harness also.. its for a temp "gauge" if your motor has tha sender.....

    purple for power.. blue for light.. black for ground.. gray for tach signal... everything but tha gray can be picked up at any of tha other gauges..

    someone over heated tha thing reason gear went south... why tha "forged" pistons?.. they need extra attention when used.. tolerances and such.. warm up is very critical with those.. especially in steel sleeve motors.. not necessary unless ya plan on turning tha wick way up.. 7500 or more...

    check here for a build date stamp.. its there but may be hard to see... thats tha timin'/throttle arm on port side.... also check welsh plug for a serial number.. it looks like a "freeze plug" top of block behind tha flywheel.... pictures of powerhead would also help with what it actually...

    tha only thing you can do ta idle is tha timin'... all wh (used on all merc V6's from '76 ta '90) series carbs have an idle circuit that is not adjustable.. its either jack with timin" or change idle "air" jetting.. reeds are justa choice.. most change 'em looking for performance gains which...

    yes, it is.... it can be trashed... but anything "timin'" comes from ecm.................. if its tha same hole that keeps goin' down there are several things that can cause it......... what was tha first fix... how long did it run on tha first fix?

    if either crank and/or flywheel splines are screwed then ya may need ta replace at least one or tha other or both............. on a bad part is i've never heard of either one being able ta be fixed... tha hub on tha flywheel can be replaced but would be more cost effective ta jus replace tha...

    no key at all.. tha flywheel will only go on one way.. it fills tha gap ya referin' to........... it can't "snap" off... flywheel splines match tha crank.

    2000 + have whats called CDM electrics or also refered to as "electronic motors".. they have a single control module that controls/does justa 'bout everything 'lectric on that motor... so no you can't.. it doesn't have one individual advance/idle stab. module

    jus know tha V6 stuff... a little pre (inline 6's) V6 era... oiler was form "83/'84, can't remember for sure exactly when tha oiler came out on tha V6, tha design stayed basically tha same for 20+ years... one thing is certain, tha ONLY ones ya hear 'bout are tha ones that take a dump... you...

    you and me both............. it is convenient for most though.. i've never kept it on anything i had but most of my stuff i twisted way up on tha rpm scale... good luck and hope ya solve this little inconvenience..............

    do you know tha history of tha motor?.. reason i asked is if its ever been over heated either one or two times being major or if its been over heated several times being minor ya might consider an oiler delete....... any type of heat weakens tha ring gear on tha crank...
