On a 2000 Mercury 200 FFI can you remove advance timing module. Oil system removed and we mix gas. This model does not have the two power packs Second time piston failed and suspect timing not returns at lower rpm

2000 + have whats called CDM electrics or also refered to as "electronic motors".. they have a single control module that controls/does justa 'bout everything 'lectric on that motor... so no you can't.. it doesn't have one individual advance/idle stab. module

Some one tried to rebuild replaced two pistons with forged but didn’t bore for extra clearance. The oil pump stopped working and gear on crank was stripped. Stator was bad and max RPM was around 2500. Took motor apart sleeved one cylinder bored others. New forged pistons. Replaced oil pump gear but will pre mix gas. Once got together cranked first test run low power 2600 RPM tested and replaced Stator. Retested checked timing all looked great. Test run 5500 rpm Used one weekend. Next trip alarm started and they let it run 10 minutes with alarm blowing. Was running hot. Alarm started at 3/4 throttle. Water pump was new and they claim it had a good stream spraying out of pee hole. Reported was not real hot Thermostats were working. Poppet valve clean and intake screen clear

someone over heated tha thing reason gear went south... why tha "forged" pistons?.. they need extra attention when used.. tolerances and such.. warm up is very critical with those.. especially in steel sleeve motors.. not necessary unless ya plan on turning tha wick way up.. 7500 or more..... i've run stock merc cast pistons over 8 grand with no problems... usually if tha same hole goes down and ya don't find anything electric or fuel its gonna be with tha machine work.. check for any separation between tha register and sleeve.. it can cuase "hot spots" in tha hole... tha slightest amount can cause heating problems and seize....
