    4.3L Mercruiser Milkshake

And ignition system. Guessing the 4.3 is thunderbolt, v-6 module won't cooperate with a v-8

    1989 mercruiser 5.7 carb exchange

This. Can't say hiw many times I've seen a q jet thrown in the trash and it breaks my heart. Yeah, they are a bit long winded to rebuild but when tuned property they shine BTW, Holley does make a fantastic carburetor

    1984 228 305 carb problem

Not true. Transition circuit does come into play at just off idle, with relief from the idle circuit. But once the throttle plate opens long before rpm reaches the speed you mention the 14.7 psi air pressure (atmosphere) overcomes the idle circuit (located below the plates, i.e. vacuum) and...

    1989 mercruiser 5.7 carb exchange

Good point, Lou. Would like to think a crusader has a marine carb but who knows? It's not a "new" carb either. Crusader hasn't made a carbed engine for some time. Either its a new replacement/rebuilt or reman oem

    1984 228 305 carb problem

900 idle speed is too high. 6-700 is appropriate for an mcm engine. Best to check/set idle in gear on the water. Idle air mixture will not respond much if at all at 900 rpm because at that point the idle circuit is bypased by air pressure drawing fuel through the venturis. Should see steady...

    1989 mercruiser 5.7 carb exchange

Should work if it's a quadrajet. Best to check size of the jets and make sure the choke operation is the same

    Crankshaft sound?

Connected to flywheel cover lower, fwd side. Not super easy to access on most boats but is the first place I'd look

    No spark, 91 536

It provides ground for the coil until the points open. When they open the voltage from the (+) side of the coil primary has no easy path to ground. Hence the output of high voltage from the secondary, main post, of the coil to provide voltage to the distributor cap.

    Crankshaft sound?

Based on the pics I'd say there's metal flying around the flywheel cover Remove the inspection plate and look for broken parts and wear.

Oil Pressure Switch Necessary with the Sniper EFI?

All oem sterndrive/inboard gas engines prime the system with the fuel pump upon key up. Good practice to key on, engine off prior to cranking to start to allow for operator recognition of audio warning system and allowing the fuel pump to prime. Consider it a systems check Agree with others as...

Oil change on Mercruiser 3.0 alpha

It appears from the pics that someone has covered up the original information on the flame arrestor? Perhaps it's just a replacement from another motor but is a bit suspect. As bondo states, the oil fill cap is noted correctly and most likely turns a bit to remove. Hose can be removed...

Oil Pressure Switch Necessary with the Sniper EFI?

Have no clue how the sniper system or associated ecm controls igniton/fuel I do know that on mercruiser efi the ecm controls the fuel pump output through a relay, there is no oil pressure switch control. Mercruiser only used an oil pressure switch to control fuel pump operation on carbureted...

Alpha 1 gen 2 shift cable adjustment

The four turns instruction is for shift plates without the assist spring assembly. If you have/use the shift assist then you adjust to six inches in fwd gear and set the lower cable end in place, then adjust remote cable accordingly

Black wire from thunderbolt iv harness/est dissy

These are two completely different ignition systems. Thunderbolt module will not work with a Delco distributor nor vice versa Sounds like you have taken a lot of pics? Post some of your ignition system, mainly the distributor and one or two of the black wire in question

Alpha one, noise from gimbal bearing area, new gimbal bearing, no water intrusion. Stumped!

Gimbal bearing alignment requires an alignment bar and a hammer, not the installation tool and smacking with your hand. The clicking noise could be from the gimbal bearing. Other culprit could be worn exhaust flappers

    1989 mercruiser 7.4 bravo one

Most likely oem location would be fwd, stbd side of engine. Could be it has been altered at some point over the years.
