Alpha 1 Gen 2 - Twin Merc 5.0 MPI - trim and trailer up and down both not working

There are fuses on the trim pump assy, one in line for the primary side and one fusible link for the main power. If the connections were hooked up backwards I'd suspect the fusible link to have failed. If the batteries were replaced recently, (possible due to selling) there's a cance the...

Alpha 1 Gen 2 - Twin Merc 5.0 MPI - trim and trailer up and down both not working

Sounds like a poor/missing connection +/-. Have you checked for power and ground at the pump assys?

1997 carver 5.7 port engine removal

Guessing based on your question and thoughts of removing salon aft door and using an extended fork to hoist the engine this is an MIE? Located below the aft salon floor? Carver isn't always the "nicest" boat builder when it comes to repair however I'd like to think they'd give a pragmatic...

new vs. old thunderbolt ignition sensor

One wht/grn goes to ignition module, other wht/grn is for shift interrupt switch. If the wires from the module/shift interrupt have ring terminals use the adapter kit from the new module to connect to the bullet connectors. Double up the wht/grn wires to make the connection. Black goes to...

    oil leak on 3.0

Yes but it's not easy You'll need at least one bent 7/16 wrench to get the upper clamp bolt loose. It's tucked up fwd of the gimbal ring. Tough to get at even with the bellhousing out of the way. Going together you only need the lower clamp bolt

    Removing Bell Housing

You need to remove the nut on top of the steering shaft/tiller arm inside. Easiest way to access is to remove the transom assembly and do it on a workbench. Other way is to cut access holes on either side of the gimbal housing, use a punch and hammer to remove the nut and install the new one and...

    Removing Bell Housing

No. Old style hinge pins were unthreaded and held in place with nails, later styles were threaded. The pivot area is metal to metal with grease being the cusion between. The only replaceable pivot points on the transom assembly are the upper and lower needle bearings for the steering in the...

    Main engine for trolling

OP wants to know if they can operate their engine/ boat. I'm not in charge of their life. If they want to run the engine they can. My best advice based on info provided is to not operate their engine, this will ensure it remains sound. Is that okay?

    Main engine for trolling

Your ford is never meant to be used, listen to your engine rebuilder. They know so much. People who own boats only use them, be one who listens and never open up your boat and enjoy it.
