    Main engine for trolling

Oof, flat tappet ford? Best bet to keep it good is to never run it. The best thing for you is to never use your boat Don't sell it, just keep it under wraps next to your garage

    oil leak on 3.0

Yeah, it is integrated. Not with the gasket but the lower portion of the cover Everybody loves the easy way but it's not always the case. If you really want to replace the timing cover gasket you should remove the engine and do a complete reseal proper

    Main engine for trolling

Oh, well it's a ford flat tappet. Feel free to run it at idle to wot. Again, as long as you have broken it in you'll be fine. But don't run it at idle to wot. Cuz it's an engine and will fail if you use it?

Alpha one, noise from gimbal bearing area, new gimbal bearing, no water intrusion. Stumped!

The alignment bar isn't used to install the gimbal bearing. There is a three piece tool for proper installation that requires a lot more than tapping. I use a 48 Oz hammer to install gimbal bearings then use the alignment bar to finish It's possible you did not seat the bearing fully and...

    Shift Assist Question

You can order a new shift plate assy from mercury. Can't say that it will mount correctly with the vintage of your motor. The new assembly is quite expensive with no guarantee it will help your situation. If you are having shifting issues with your alpha drive there is quite a bit of...

    Shift Assist Question

It probably won't fit due to the studs on the shift assembly being too short. Why do you need a shift assist?

Merc 350 mag mpi HELP! 200°

Looks like based on pictures you're taking temp readings at the exhaust manifolds. Yeah, they get hot. If you are getting 160 degree readings at all rpm/load ranges at the senders you are good. The outsides of the exhaust manifolds get extremely hot during normal operation

    Shift cable ?

Yes, but you need to rotate the input shaft to do so. Usually able to get the linkage to move in/aft somewhat easily but you'll need a stout grasp with pliers on the linkage to get it to move out/forward. This is of course while you are rotating the input shaft. The shift mechanism will be...
