Force 120 1976 - Was running great, then gradually lost ability to idle. - Need Help Please

Before you remove the head: get a snake camera for your phone and have a look at the cylinders or a long skinny screwdriver and turn the motor so the sd goes all the way in and see if you can feel any cuts or grooves in the walls. The spark plugs all burning the same or is #1 clean? Pics? How...

Force 120 1976 - Was running great, then gradually lost ability to idle. - Need Help Please

I answered this in the post you hacked. Always start your own. The motor in the video is from a 120 Force about 1995 The coils /pack are a Mercury added part, they took over about 94 and used their parts. From the way the motor sounds it sounds like the carbs are set wrong, one running faster...

Chrysler 1981 55HP Possible CD problem

You said: Was getting it ready for the water so was double checking the timing and that's how I noticed it as the timing light wouldn't show the markings as it warmed up. The Force/Chrysler timing marks: the timing is set at wide open throttle and not running. If you get it running and search...

    Chrysler 907HB 90hp wiring color codes…

The worst thing about the Chrysler/ Force is the gas economy. No where as good as the newer motors but not that bad. My neighbors 225 Evinrude cruising got about 2.1-2.3 mpg. My twin 88 85 usually around 2.3 mpg, not too bad. The newer EFI/DFI get a whole lot better. Friends 2007 200 Yam OX66...

    running rough at idle

Try the starting fluid test?? Start motor, spray SF around the intake side of the motor, around the carb bases, under the ignition components and around the port covers. A miss like that can be a bad gasket under the port cover that holds the fuel pump or the other cover. One small backfire...

    1976 Chrysler 90hp 907HB tilt/trim…

I really doubt you'll find a sending unit :( When the trim extends and touches the mid section there is a plate that fits in there so it doesn't chew up the soft aluminum. It's NLA from most parts places but ebay or Franz marine might have it??? THRUST BRACKET F449354

    1970 Chrysler 70hp outboard motor

Hard turning with the plugs in: do a compression test. Remove all the plugs and let the motor spin until the gauge stops going up. Comp ok? clean, rebuild the starter, check battery cables for bad connectors or swelling cables? That ok? then drop the lower unit and see if the motor turn easier...

Force serial number no longer on sticker

The foundry stamp will get you the year and you can order parts from that. The 2nd pic is probably a part # and not the foundry stamp. Look on the block under the coils, pack and on the intake under the bottom carb, there should be a stamp there.

    Runs bad.

TPS??? Checking the tps and it shows 5 volts into the tps. From what I understand it's supposed to be .5 volts not 5.0 volts What would cause the voltage to go up so high? That's probably the reason the motor runs bad(see other post). Thanks,

    Runs bad.

2006 225 VZ225TLR First what's the fuel pump pressure supposed to be? I test it and it comes out at 55# Comp 120/6, spark ok. Start it and it idles, when put in gear and accelerated it revs up and down fast again and again and will smooth out when put back in neutral. Does it every time...

Water not coming from pee tube.

Pulled the reg and found sand and gunk blocking the system. Tried to flush and had good results after cleaning. My guess, two things: not flushing long enough or not flushing often enough. Thanks everyone for the help. I'm done with this post.
