Title says it all. I have the manual and a factory wiring harness, but need a simple wiring color code chart. Its a ‘76.

You will find the electrical diagram at Mastertech Marine.
Do your engine have distributor driven CD ignition by Motorola or do it have the Prestolite CDI ignition without distributor?
General the code is
Red-battery power
Blue-ignition
White/black-trigger the CD box
Orange-overheat signal
White-tacometer
Black-ground
Yellow/black-start circuit
Green-choke

I have not identified the exact components to the ignition system yet, but believe this model had the distributor. It had been converted prior to me taking ownership, and currently has a newer coil from an older Roadrunner…the prior owner liked the MOPAR branding on the coil.

Thanks for the colors and source

Add this: Yellow with Red trace for the start system.
Seen this variant on other applications.

If the ignition coil been replaced with one from a Roadrunner the system has been converted to a regular auto style system.
You have a belt driven distributor system with points and condenser.
The pre owner has removed the Motorola CD box and replaced it with a auto style coil and condenser.
Mastertech has the diagram (Chrysler 75-105Hp battery ignition system with alternator).

Thank you for this. I was not sure which diagram was correct.

What makes this conversion a better option? Is it more reliable, or just easier to find replacement parts?

Easier to find and replace parts and much much cheaper.
An aftermarket CD box from CDI Electronics is about 400 dollars!!!

You know, Im usually into restoring and working on old ‘Rudes and Mercs. This Chrysler is just a beautiful motor. It was pretty much good to go already when I bought it so I could log some personal use right away. Glad Im not into Chryslers for my hobby…id go broke

The worst thing about the Chrysler/ Force is the gas economy.
No where as good as the newer motors but not that bad.
My neighbors 225 Evinrude cruising got about 2.1-2.3 mpg.
My twin 88 85 usually around 2.3 mpg, not too bad.

The newer EFI/DFI get a whole lot better.
Friends 2007 200 Yam OX66 about 4+ mpg.
The Force and some Chryslers, the parts are still available, sometimes the search can be fun!!
The smaller 2cyl. can actually run pretty good on 1 cyl. One guy ran his 87/50 on 1 for almost a year before it got fixed.

Im replacing the twin 1972 Evinrude 50hp motors on my rig with this 90hp Chrysler. I assumed the gas mileage would be comparable, but now I dont know lol! I do a lot of trolling, and had used my port side motor for that exclusively with a trolling plate. Could get down to about 0.8mph with it. Now ill have the Chrysler paired with an ‘06 4stroke Johnson 9.9.
