Project Fuggly - No Longer Fuggly And Splashed!!!!!!

Thanks Chuck! I totally ran out of gas today for some reason, but I did get some urethane sprayed on the rams. I have a fiend coming on Wednesday to help install the rub rail...and then I need to head to the saw mill for the logs from the lake.....but I am hoping maybe getting in the glass if...

Am I the only one considering back to back vs pedistal seats?

Hot glue gun, and some cardboard mockups will tell you a lot. I don't think back to back will work with the room you have, but I am eyeballing it from one pic. If you are mainly doing water-sports, you might consider something like this. Sounds like more than what you are wanting to do, but...

Sam I would say its 50 / 50 if these work! Hopefully they do, but I am not going to hold my breath! I did some sanding on the epoxy on the insides of the seats tonight. Mainly just to clean things up some and put a coat of spar varnish over it. I'm hoping to put one more coat on the outside...

Starting to get the new parts back on. Sorry didn't get much of the assembly. All back together and ready for paint. The first one took an hour or so. Second one was about 20 minutes. Guess we will see what happens when we hook them up! Time to prep for paint next.

Thanks for the complement Kcassells! Today I rebuilt the trim / tilt rams. I found a pretty good video on YouTube about them. He showed breaking them down, but not really the putting back together part. I used a full kit, including the seals, pressure tube and new valve body. I wouldn't try to...

It took some doing putting it all back together, but having the old stuff cleaned up and painted made it a lot nicer. You have to be methodical, miss a step and you have to go backwards! New upper steering seals and bearing Lower steering pin bearing and seals Tilt / trim limit switch (not...

I sanded everything down and cleaned it up for painting. I etched / sealed it with varaiprime from DuPont then top coated it with a single stage DuPont urethane.

There was a lot of pitting on the bottom of the connection for the exhaust bellows, so I filled it with some JB Weld. Hopefully I will get a good seal out of it now. I pretty much ordered most of the consumable parts for the gimbal assembly. This drive is a 67-69, so most of the parts are...

I broke down and bought a parts washer. I also washed them in an acid that is made for cleaning tanks and trailers on tractor trailers. Works well for removing the corrosion you can't get to with abrasives.

I hope everyone is doing well. Sorry for sort of falling off the radar, but about a month ago my best buddy and chief engineer of the boat Charlie passed away. He was just a bit over two years old and it was totally unexpected. I took it really hard and didn't feel much like working on the boat...

Today I got the steering hing pins out. The lower was easy, the top one required some heat on one bolt....think it had lock tight on it. But I finally got it apart. The lower roller bearing was in ok shape, but the upper was froze and more or less toast. I just ordered another truck load of...

One other thing. removing the shift cable requires Mercruy special tool Blah-blah-blah. Archbuilder special tool Arch-socket-mig seemed to work just fine.

Here is a pic of it assembled and ready to go. If you looked closely above you will note a super rusty snap ring I had to get out. That was my first clue the bearing wasn't the typical one. Took a little cursing but I got it out an then the puller just sucked out the bearing. So the...

Project Fuggly - No Longer Fuggly And Splashed!!!!!!

So today was um.....interesting :D I started out by pulling the hinge pins, which came right out. I just screwed an 1/4x28 bolt in them and pulled them out by hand. I really thought they would fight when I started this, but really super easy. I got the bellows and pick-up tube loose. I...
