    Is this boat salvageable???

If it has a volvo sx drive (kinda looks like it in the pic) the drive is worth a few bucks to someone Depending on whether or not the engine was prepared for long term layup it could be fine (with fluid changes and full tune up with new fuel filters, maybe a carb rebuild if equipped), or it...

240 v6 alarms for over heating upon startup

I remember volvo has a service/parts warranty recall/update for the manifold temp sensors on certain late model engines Check with a local volvo dealer or volvo themselves based on engine serial/model number for more info

Alpha 1 Gen 1 Sterndrive install

Never seen a gimbal bearing gasket, maybe you're referencing the drive/bell housing gasket? If so, yes that gasket goes on dry, however, grease will not affect performance As long as you installed the drive proper, aligning the shift foot on the drive with the fork on the shaft in the bell...

    Chattering in out drive

Serial number and photo would indicate an MC-1 style drive. Manual #3 should be the one with proper specs for assembly #6 would have the same specs but would pertain to the R model drive. Basically MC-1 internals with alpha one style housings If you wish to check further shimming specs you'll...

95 4.3lx alpha one mercruiser cooling system question

No need for adhesive, it's not required The worm gear portion of the clamp must be oriented parallel to the outer edge of the bell housing, it's the only way you'll be able to access it for tightening

    Chattering in out drive

You'll need a rolling dial torque wrench. Need to set the shims to achieve 3 -7 lb/in rolling. Measurement is taken with the drive gear/bearing pack/u joint assy removed from the housing with drive/driven gear height/lash already set. You're best off using the oem manual, bit too in depth to...

Chevy 283 w Mallory distributor question.

This may be true, I've never heard that to be the reason though What I've been told by more than one source is on some boat models chris craft wanted to have the aft cockpit deck one level, i.e. no motor boxes above the level of the deck. They achieved this by lowering the overall profile of...

    Chattering in out drive

The upper driveshaft/bearings must be set to a specific preload prior to shimming the gear set. If someone swapped out a top cap/bearing cup and didn't check the preload it's possible the shims under the cup are incorrect and the preload is too loose/tight causing the issue

    Holt oil extractor

Should work fine on a boat. Most marine inboard/sterndrive engines come equipped oem with a dipstick tube that reaches almost to the bottom of the pan Many require only to draw from the end of the tube, I use a spark plug boot on the end of my extractor for a good seal

    350 MAG no hot start

Could still have an iac valve issue. I know it works cold but when it heats up, especially after shutdown/heat soak it may be failing Iac valves ime have failed without setting a fault. Test is to advance throttle slightly to allow air past the throttle plate, if engine starts it could very...

tilt wires getting hot during lift?

Didn't watch your video, .mov downloads and often doesn't work anyway My suggestion would be to abate the spade terminals and either butt solder or heat shrink butt connect the wires in question. Get yourself a decent shop manual with proper wiring diagrams/service info and wire the system as...

    ok..prop experts...?

Hmm, not sure why you're posting synonyms. Perhaps you misconstrued my post By "No concern no question" I mean if you do not have a concern (about fuel consumption) there's no need to ask a question If you are really curious prop selection is strictly based on performance, e.g. you want to...

tilt wires getting hot during lift?

Those spade connectors are not recommended for the heavy load of the tilt mechanism. If this is indeed a "stringer" the tilt and trim are two different systems. Tilt moves the drive very swiftly up/down. Trim changes the angle of the entire package (engine, transom assy/housing, drive) to...

    Vista 298 speedometer

Probably your best bet right here. Check the back of the speedo guage, if there is a tube connected to a small barb fitting the gauge is air actuated via a pitot tube that transfers pressure from forward movement through the water from the pilot pickup mounted on the transom Perhaps the...
