tilt wires getting hot during lift?

Heat means excess resistance caused by too small a diameter wire, wire length, poor connection, issue with the component accepting the load, etc... The connections pictured look questionable, have you peeked under the tape?

Upper Alpha one Gen 2 Replacement

The stamped C and D represent the oem ratio of the drive. Based on the serial number of the drives you can verify with an oem manual the ratio. This is of course considering no one has changed the driveshaft(s) Have you measured the diameter of each shaft and compared?

Upper Alpha one Gen 2 Replacement

For some reason I'm thinking the issue you're describing with driveshaft length/u joint style only affects bravo drives. Im thinking gen 2 alpha drives all have the same shaft length regardless of u joint style/gear ratio Been a minute since I've had to focus on that situation, could be...

    Mercruiser 260 issue

If it got hot enough to smoke there's a chance of melted casing on wires in the harness. May account for the oil pressure guage reading zero If engine oil is full/clean you need to source the cause of overheat. Sea water pump impeller investigation is the first step

    Mercruiser 260 issue

Okay, what I glean from your posts is the engine (or something else) made a huge racket, oil pressure guage dropped to zero, temp guage rose, you shut the engine down and now it turns over/rotates but will not start/run. Correct? Now you say you turn it back on, key in run position engine not...

    ok..prop experts...?

Probably not going to notice much if any change in fuel consumption unless you remove as much weight as you safely can My go to is if fuel consumption is a concern, boating isn't for you The only way to know for sure is to try it and compare. Keep in mind conditions out of your control can...

Volvo 5.0 gxi Stalls at idle. Hard start.

Map sensor from GM (delco) is what you need. Techmate won't help you much. Full diacom software on a laptop will allow for recording, graphing comparisons and component testing Hopefully it's the map sensor, try a quality one and test.

Completely lost all oil pressure means you check oil level/quality. Was there any engine oil present in the bilge?

Capri 175 with mercruiser 3.0 alpha won’t start

The starter rotates the engine but it does not start? If so, is the lanyard switch on? Are you setting the choke and priming the carburetor?

Is it possible to delete the power steering in a 3.0L Alpha One Gen II?

Have you inspected the power steering system to know where it leaks? Often times the connections on the low-pressure line at the cooler can leak. Easy fix to remove the line, cut off the failed end and reinstall

Engine wire harness not terminated or connected?

Could be. Have you looked in the near proximity for another harness connection that would mate with this? Wire colors shown could indicate a possible association with the trim system but if the trim is fully operational then discount that possibility Check your wiring diagram again for...

    Couple issues

Best access for inspection is to remove the fuel guage sender. As far as tank removal i have no clue. Some boats you need to remove the floor/deck to access for removal

4.3l Mercruiser - failed hose test see comments

First step is to reinstall the casting plug. Then run the engine on muffs and check for any other leaks. If no leaks let the motor run to temp for a while and turn it off. Let the motor sit for an hour or so and restart it. Let run for a bit and monitor oil level quality. If the engine oil is...
