Proper Controls for Johnson 9.9 HP 4 stroke

I may be wrong but I think the engine is a Tohatsu. Regardless, look in Mercury Marine's website and find the answer.

    Marine hand held radio

I had a 25 watt with 8' antenna for many years. Usually only talked to fellow boaters, but now nobody uses them. Never had an issue. We have a local Coast Guard Base so it made sense. Now, I carry a handheld "just because". The reason is to get the weather forecasts. My local CG and SeaTow...

Showing the Boston Whaler 13 some TLC . . .

All my Evinrudes are blue. No matter what era, the color tint matches the outside. All my late model Johnsons are are white. During the "Red" era the power heads were red. The older ones are silver, again to match the leg. The point is that they usually matched the leg. The only black...

    Aruba for our 30th anniversary

We have been to Aruba 4 times. My buddy's wife won't go anywhere more than once, but since going to Aruba they now go there every Winter for a few weeks. Our first trip we stayed at a Best Western on Eagle Beach. I was disappointed to see that it was sold and is now an all-inclusive at...

    Stainless Prop Film

Could be. I my case I was in a marina with floating docks. So, it was still usable. However, the river had flooded and the "Dock House", which was on land, was flooded as well. I assume that some of the electricals were under water. Our normal waterfront motel room was also half flooded, so...

    Stainless Prop Film

I had the same problem. The prop was shiny, then after a week moored at a campsite dock it was all dull. It polished out, but boy was i pissed. I contacted the marina and they said they were having electrical problems on that dock after some repairs and the electrician was working on it.

Showing the Boston Whaler 13 some TLC . . .

Many years ago I bought an old tinny for $600. The engine was pristine and the boat WAS pristine after many hours of labor. The trailer....well... Initially, I replaced the wires, tires, springs, coupler, bunks and sandbasted and rust reformed the frame and topcoated it with rustoleum. The...

    Bravo III Mixing Prop Materials

I don't know if there a reason you can't do it or not, but I would ask WHY? So what's the problem? Are you trying to solve 2 problems at once, and thus need 2 different technologies? Whether mechanically possible or not, sounds like something I would not even think about.

Who makes replacement snap-on canvas cover for Stingray?

If you look at optional OEM prices for runabouts, they are in the $1000 - 1500 range. That would be for a stock item that was inventoried at the time. I doubt the OEM manufacturer would still have spare parts lying around for a 15 year old boat. Thus, even if they still have the patterns they...

If you have a roller trailer used in salt water....check this....

As I've said before, I've owned MANY boats over the last 55 years and my Whaler is the best of the bunch. Their ads say "Upscale"and they aren't kidding. Maybe their "requirements" are legalspeak. I dunno. The longevity by some on roller trailers speaks for itself. My Montauk will follow...

If you have a roller trailer used in salt water....check this....

Because of the type of hull construction, Boston Whaler specifically states NOT to use a roller trailer. The rollers can cause a hull / foam separation. However, their Owner's Manual specifies that the optimum is a combo bunk / roller setup. That is, full keel rollers with carpeted side...

    Single Person Loader?

Wow....and he's trailerboat'n with a CAR.....omg. Kinda like MY method. There is an eyebolt on the trailer. Pull out the winch cable and secure it to the eye. Then back the trailer in and bring the stem up between the bunks. At that point the winch cable is at the perfect length to hold the...

guage issues on 91 stingray 3.0 merc

My Stingray came from the factory with intermittent speedo problems. Right off the bat I replaced the entire length of tubing and sealed both ends tight. I found a kink in the original tube. 35 years later it still worked perfectly - within 1 mph of GPS.

If you have a roller trailer used in salt water....check this....

That's funny, because different areas must have boaters with different levels of experience. In my area the big go fasts and the few trailered Express Cruisers are the ones that usually show the least amount of hassle. It's the 19' I/Os that usually require backing in until the exhaust pipe is...

If you have a roller trailer used in salt water....check this....

Go ahead and say it. As long as it's just an opinion, it's what the novices need to hear. As I have said before, what works for one may not work for others. Different boats, different ramps and different levels of knowledge. I gave you the respect of not criticizing your opinion, and never...

If you have a roller trailer used in salt water....check this....

My 2 most recent boats/trailers are 2017 and 2019. My 2 most recent daily driver autos are 2017 and 2018, and all are fuel injected. However, my classic car and antique boat both have carbs. In fact, the boat even has points and the car an 8-track. Many years experience with a variety of...

If you have a roller trailer used in salt water....check this....

Everyone is convinced that theirs is the better platform, and nobody could sway them otherwise. It is what it is. I have seen people make a fool out of themselves at the boat ramp, regardless what type trailer they use. Watching the shipshow has convinced me that 75% of trailer boaters are...

    Mercury Flo-Torq II Locking Tab

I think I paid six bucks for a package. I realize they are reusable, but for that cheep price I don't even think about it.

If you have a roller trailer used in salt water....check this....

Had a bunk trailer once....they suck. Never again. The "Trailer Boater's Guide Book" explains it in great detail. Als you have to do is read the directions. Bunks are storage trailers, rollers are launching trailers. When I bought my last new boat the dealer replaced the bunks with rollers...
