    Mercruiser 4.3 will not start

Still no confirmation of the lanyard, run/off, man overboard switch at the remote First post sounds exactly like a situation where the switch is in the "off" position

    Quadrajet Secondaries Problem

If this statement is true as pertaing to your local area then the marine service in question isn't a marine service I work on old/older boats. Boats/engines from 1955 through present day and I've removed and replaced many carburetor jets Either learn to rebuild a qauadrajet yourself or find a...

    carburetor suspect problems

The plug leads should not be bundled together, that can increase the chance of cross firing. They should be allowed to hang free from each other and not tied together with the casings touching. If a couple of them cross lightly thats okay but tied together can be bad. They are mercury brand...

Cylinder drop test? Compression test? A kv meter will show you a comparison of voltage through the plug wires. What do the spark plugs look like?

    Bravo 3 Shift Cam Position

I've never heard of this type of modification to a bravo shift system. Seems a bit shade tree to me as the ends of the spring are ground flat/perpendicular so as to aid in centering the detent ball assy within the back cover cavity I have heard of and installed a ramped linkage in place of a...

    carburetor suspect problems

Given the older style ignition module present I'll note if the sensor in the distributor has been replaced with the latest style sensor I've experienced a timing jump at idle of anywhere from 4-8 degrees. This would account for the varying rpm at idle speed you're experiencing. I cannot tell...

    Bravo 3 Shift Cam Position

Afraid aside from witnessing in person I can be of no further help Maybe find a reputable repair place on the water? Ask them for an opinion on the shift. Sometimes perspective makes a big difference

5.0l MPI Single Alarm at 2000 RPMs and higher

Only thing I can think of you haven't listed is a blockage somewhere in the cooling system Is the boat operated in salt water. Closed cooling or raw water?

Is it possible to put the upper half of the sterndrive on first? Or do I need to put the whole drive on together?

The design of an mc-1, r/mr/alpha one, and gen 2 alpha drive does allow one to remove/install the gear case from the drive shaft housing with the drive assembly installed on the bell housing I personally wouldn't attempt to install a fully removed alpha style drive via the drive shaft housing...

    Bravo 3 Shift Cam Position

If the drive shifted smooth before why did you replace the cone clutch? Ime some bravos clunk, others do not some only clunk shifting one direction and these are drives that shift properly with full detent/in gear engagement both directions.

Merc Sterndrive 3.0 Pressure test is holding steady at 7psi, should I be concerned?

I pump the pressure up to 10psi initially and perform an inspection. After a few minutes holding at 10 I pump up to 15psi, perform another inspection. Then wait ten minutes, perform another inspection and if pressure is stable I call it good

a carburetor shouldn't spill fuel like this, right?

Understood My thinking is if someone abated the valve it's plausible (not probable) the lack of restriction from the valve is causing the pump to flow too much fuel/too high a pressure Only reason I'm thinking this is because I've never seen an electric fuel pump on a carbureted engine fail by...

2010 350 Mag MPI bravo 3 gaurdian mode issue. 5% power

That's what getting a service department job at a mercury dealer and becoming a student of mercury university is for I have mercury university tech guidebooks going back to 2007. The vast majority of the information printed in the guidebooks is in the oem manuals, it's just a condensed, broad...

Water in Oil (Again) Head Scratcher

That is the correct torque spec for a 4.3 vortec engine Seems like a cooling system pressure test is in order. With that much water in the oil and cylinders/combustion chamber by simply running on muffs the leak(s) should be quite obvious

    Warning lights on dash.

Those are common symbols for engine oil pressure and engine coolant temperature. The lights being illuminated with the engine running indicate oil pressure below specified threshold, coolant temperature above specified threshold, or an issue with the warning system switches/wiring
