    Batman! Dadadadadadadada!

Built in the early 1950's it was a decadent model made to turn heads. It sported a Cadillac engine. In an era when wood was king, it was an early use of fiberglass for the fin and deck section. Not many made and not a whole lot of them still in existence.

    Batman! Dadadadadadadada!

If I had to guess I would say it was a George Barris custom made from a factory hull. He was the creator of the original Batmobile, plus all the other iconic Hollywood creations. If you google it, you will find a plastic model of that very boat.

    Bayliner F-16 Element

We have a local Bayliner dealer that sells a lot of boats. I can't recall ever seeing one on the water. They are made on a price point, so a lot of the components are cheap plastic. I would expect a low resale value. It has a shallow hull so it would be best to use it in calm waters. All...

    Need help with my situation

Do you have insurance on the boat? Standard marine insurance has a spill endorsement that covers a little over a million dollars. Just call an EPA approved contractor and let him bill the insurance company.

    1984 Bayliner Ski with 94 Merc Black Max 150HP 2.5 V6 Outboard

At present, Brunswick owns Mercury, Bayliner, SeaRay, Bostom Whaler, Crestline, Lund and a few more. So, In other words, from medium to premium brands. But this is all a moot point anyway. We're talking about a very old boat here. Even if some lawyer wanted to argue about "quality", the...

Are you talking about replacing the inboard with an outboard, or simply adding a kicker?

    1984 Bayliner Ski with 94 Merc Black Max 150HP 2.5 V6 Outboard

There are some semantics involved here. Bayliner and SeaRay have the same parent company, but neither makes the other. Bayliner is merely the budget division. It's kinda like saying a Lexus and a Toyota are the same.

1998 Crownline 202br engine compartment access

I suffered with an I/O for 35 years. In 2018 I traded in my 2-stroke outboard fishing boat for a deluxe model with a 4-stroke outboard. A year later I traded in my very last I/O for an outboard powered family boat. I was really PO'd after the last sale. I kick myself for not doing it sooner.

Water keeps filling boat cover, please help!

A center pole support with straps to the 4 corners might work as long as the pole is tall enough. A bow to stern strap most likely will not work unless there is another support between the windshield and transom. Aluminum bows (not FG or wood) is probably the best option, but they have to be...

    Oar length

One of my favorite fishing spots is subjected to a very high river current. If all else fails, at least my oars will get me to the shore where the water is shallow and an anchor will take a good hold. When your view downstream shows the mist from Niagara Falls, you need all the help you can...

    Oar length

Maybe so, maybe not. Personally, I use my oars all the time. There are some back-stream fishing holes where I go where oars are my only option. Even a trolley would fill up with weeds pretty quick.

    Boat Pedestal Question

I can't disagree with you. Nevertheless, it's the world we live in today. A big part of the problem are the lawyers. They will sue for anything because THEY are the ones that make the big profits. And of course, another problem are the politicians. But then again, that's on US, isn't it...

    Oar length

This isn't rocket science. I posted a formula way back in the beginning. All you need to know is the beam and freeboard. If you google it there are a dozen other formulas that come up. I have put oars on 3 different boats in the last 35 years and als I had to do was calculate the length and...

    Boat Pedestal Question

I won't dispute whether they are good or not because I never owned one. What stands out is that they have been out of business a long time. When a company has a profitable product they keep making them. If they change the direction of their company, they sell the tooling and patents to a...

    1984 Bayliner Ski with 94 Merc Black Max 150HP 2.5 V6 Outboard

The pundits claim that the service life of a fiberglass boat is 15 years. Chances of a 21 year old boat being still in good shape are rare. Many (most) people that are not boat savvy don't take care of their boats very well. Having learned along the way it has been my personal policy to save...

    1984 Bayliner Ski with 94 Merc Black Max 150HP 2.5 V6 Outboard

Please understand that I have no love for Bayliners, especially ones built in their darkest days, but I'm going to take the other side of the opinion here. The one listed here is not an "ordinary" model. It has been customized extensively. I would wonder if all the rotten innards have been...
