    1999 Bryant gelcoat repair

Uscomposites.com. You'll have to buy clear gelcoat and their color additives and mix it yourself to get the correct color.

    Making engine beds

Mark, I only did 2 layers of 1708 over the mounts. The original mounts in the boat (which were completely fine, but I had to rip them out to replace the stringers) only had one layer of 24 oz woven roving over them. So 2 layers of 1708 was more fiberglass than original, and the original mounts...

    Under seat storage

Unless you have the money to do something like Coosa board, plywood with a layer of CSM over it is about as durable, cheap, and easy as it comes.

100% walk away...for all the reasons the folks above said.

    Making engine beds

Start reading my thread from here and you can see how I did mine. The pieces of wood are vertical so the lag only penetrates the sapele. The two pieces of plywood are totally isolated from the sapele by way of CSM between the layers.

    Making engine beds

I would just laminate with poly resin, and maybe a sheet of 1.5 oz CSM between each layer. If you want to get fancy, laminate a piece of rot resistant wood (I used Sapele) in between your plywood, and position it so that the lag bolts go into that wood only.

    1972 Checkmate MX-15 Rebuild

Tough call, but I'm sure it will be for the best. A mostly white cap will be a much cooler (temperature) boat to be on, too.

Marine Carpet Glue For Wood Decking

Agree with above - waterproof it before putting down carpet. I fiberglassed my deck then used Weldwood HHR to attach my carpet - worked great, but if you've never sprayed it before, there is a slight learning curve. It's a contact adhesive, so you basically get one shot at rolling the carpet...

    Heavy Oxidation Removal

Photos of the entire process are highly encouraged. My rebuild thread went to over 30 pages long by the time I was done (see the link in my signature)

    Heavy Oxidation Removal

If you aren't seeing fibers, the gelcoat is still there. Is it a metal flake bass boat? I've heard if you get down to the flake layer, it'll turn grey as you sand/polish. First step is to clean the dirt off. Next, wet sand. If it's bad, you may have to start down around 400 grit or lower, then...

Alpha one gen1 drive shaft housing lower oil seal question

Dang, twin SS drives?! Those things are hens teeth. Agee - follow Merc's instructions and keep those drives alive.

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

I had 3 successful days in a row this past weekend with the boat on the water, and it never flooded out. It did act "cold natured" on a couple of starts, but I'll take that any day over the issues I've been having this season so far. It feels good to be back to just enjoying the thing.

    1993 Bayliner Capri interior

Unless you get lucky enough to find the same make/model/year boat being parted out with the interior in good condition, you'll likely have to visit your local upholstery shop.

    Wellcraft 250 Sportsman

A knock test won't tell you much (anything?) regarding rot. I would 100% crawl in the back and look where those "swim platform" bolts go to. If the back side of the bolts have compressed into the transom and cracked the surrounding fiberglass, run away from that boat unless you want to spend a...

    transom repair options

You can do bigger cuts with your circular saw. I cut mine in a grid about 3" or 4" square and knocked out the blocks with a hammer and chisel. Then used a hammer and chisel to remove the remaining big chunks of wood. Finally, a 36-grit flap disc on a grinder.

    Plastic instrument panel replacement

I used New Wire Marine to remake my entire dash panel and was very happy with the results. They have a few woodgrain options for material.

Fiberglass experts! Adhering new CSM to uncoated old layers exposed to elements?

You need to sand with something like 40 grit then wipe with a good soaking of acetone right before you lay new glass, to make a good mechanical bonding surface. You won't get any chemical bonding with the original glass already having been fully cured.
