1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

Got all the suspension sanded, primed, and painted today as well. Hope to get it back together this weekend. I'll be replacing 2 of the shackle bolts due to wear and will be installing new shackle bushings.

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

This is something I have been wanting to do. I think there is a CAT scale nearby. I'm curious how much weight I added with the rebuild. I think I was pretty heavy handed with the resin.

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

Friday, I got in my last boat ride of the season before putting the boat away for winter. That means project time. So Saturday, I pulled the axle and springs out from under the trailer to go through them and start installing electric trailer brakes. I got the axle cleaned up and welded on...

    Glastron Carlson cv-23

Post pics as you progress. I will show it to my brother to hopefully motivate him on his CV19 project. To add to what Scott said, take pics, take measurements, and make sketches of things as you de-rig and demo.

Marine Carpet Replacement > Anyone Familiar with Compass HB Marine Flooring?

A buddy has this in his boat and I cam confirm it is hot on the feet. He is going to go back to snap in carpet next year.

New to this world of boating and got my self in a pickle

Agree with Mr. Danforth - you're looking at a full gut and rebuild job. It's time to make the decision whether you junk / sell this one and try to find another boat, or if you want to commit to 12-24 months of a project that's going to cost at least a few grand and a couple hundred hours of...

    1968 surftamer

Nope, mine was just screwed through the 2 pieces of fiberglass. No backer wood. It's held up fine.

    1968 surftamer

Mine was put together with screws and not rivets. Just go back with screws.

    1974 Silverline Tri Hull

I don't want you to misunderstand - you don't cut a hole through that big, but rather grind a very shallow funnel around the hole, with the funnel being about 1" or so in diameter at the widest part. I would probably just leave the holes and enjoy the boat for what it is.

    1988 Javelin 366 Full Restoration

Yes. It's going to be easier to just get all the old wood out and out all new wood in, versus trying to work around some small pieces here and there that are left behind.

    1974 Silverline Tri Hull

If you want the repair to last, you'll have to grind out an area at least 1" diameter around each hole, lay in some CSM, sand, fill, sand, fill, sand, fill, gelcoat, wet sand, and buff. If you just fill the hole as is, it won't last. Not trying to discourage you, just saying it's a lot of work...

    1988 Javelin 366 Full Restoration

Measure and sketch, then cut it all out. Either build a cradle, or measure hull widths every foot from bow to stern, then cut everything out. I used ratchet straps to pull my hull slightly back into shape before glassing new things in.

    Designs in or over gelcoat?

Paint won't work layered in gel. It will have to be gel

    1999 Crestliner FishHawk 1750 Restoration

I got my switches from New Wire Marine. Very pleased with the way my dash came out.

    Pinstripe removal tool

Eraser wheel worked wonderful for me to remove old reg numbers and pinstripes. Mine were way to brittle to peel off by hand. I found it worked best in my battery powered drill, with the direction of rotation opposite of the direction I was moving the tool (if you're familiar with machining, it...

    Outdrive Lower piece broke off.

I had a whale tail that broke some chunks off my cavitation plate. I welded some new pieces of plate in then repainted my drive. Pics of the repair start HERE.

    1966 MFG Rebuild

Give it an acetone wipe. If it isn't tacky after that, you may have gotten finishing resin (resin with wax additive).
