"Drip 4 drops of light machine oil into the compressor"
What is light machine oil? I don't have any. I have plenty of WD 40 though, is that good enough?

No it gets sticky after it dries... Light machine oil is like 3 in 1 oil. You could use an iso 32 oil like ATF or even air tool oil..

3-1 will varnish up also. I've used it and it actually does that. I use gun oil or sewing machine oil in most all small electric motors, no issues. I see a fan on the curb that someone is tossing away, grab it, clean it up and add a few drops of said oil on the bearings, viola! back to life. I even use it in my shop vac when they get whiney.

Sewing machine oil, gun oil, fishing reel oil, even the little tubes that come with hair clippers. All about the same stuff.
