What sort of water will you be boating on? If you're on really small lakes and small rivers, the first boat (jon boat) will be fine. If you're going to be on slightly larger lakes with even a bit of chop, the v-hull with the 15 hp would be my choice (despite the garish camo paint job).

Of those 2, go with the Starcraft with the newer Johnson.
There is a lot of value in that motor, and it is 30 years newer.

Heh another Minnesotan! Welcome! The first post, the john boat with the 15 hp Johnson. Looks like a nice well kept little rig. That Johnson is a sweet little motor even as old as it is. If you get in any kind of chop that john boat will ride very hard and that will get old. Unless you plan on doing some river fishing on some of the smaller rivers around the area, I would maybe steer clear of that rig.
The star craft being more of a V hull will be more comfortable in the waves and of course you have the newer out board.

FYI - my first boat was a16' Lund WC-16 with a 25 h.p. Johnson. I could take that boat on almost any lake in Minnesota, even the bigger lakes with good weather. I would say look for a 16' aluminum boat like a Lund or a Crestliner, or Starcraft with something like a 25 h.p. outboard. The longer boat, likely with a wider beam will be a lot more comfortable, especially if you're fishing with your bud or the wife or girlfriend.

That last one looks to be very well taken care of. It'd have my vote IF the motor starts/runs as it should.

Fond memories of my uncle's 16' starcraft with a 9.9HP Rude hanging off the back...

That's a really nice looking rig! Those Evinrude/Johnson 25 h.p. outboards were pretty bomb proof as well.
If you go look at it and are interested in buying, make sure to go to a lake and take a spin to make sure everything works and the boat doesn't gush water.

That last one is sweet.

"Trust no one believe nothing" would have saved me from buying my boat if I had known better. Bought it under the pretense of a working engine, only to find it toast when I got it home and put my hands on it. Onward I went into a partially full resto.

All said, I'd probably do it again.

Not to derailwith that, but darn well do that water test.

If every thing works as it should that would make a good fishing rig and the price seems to be inline of what it would go for in my neck of the woods. Very close to my present fishing boat and maybe my last one. I have downsized from larger go fast bass boats due to my age and the fact I fish mostly by myself. That Lund looks like the perfect first boat depending on the condition of the motor.

Looks like it still has Wisconsin registration on it.

Make sure the seller has registration in his name.
Also a title in his name.
And what about that wonderful Minnesota trailer registration?

If the paperwork isn't in his name, he can't legally sell it.
And you may have lots of trouble getting everything put in your mane.

I bought my first boat two years ago. I had recently retired, COVID lockdowns hit, the Canada border closed, and I wanted to go fishing.

Happened into a $1200 Lund; 14' with 30 HP Johnson, Motorguide troller, Lowrance finder, all on a trailer.

The hull was built in 1979 but was, and still is, watertight. Absolutely no leakage. The only time the bilge pump has run is when I tested it.

The Johnson (1990 model) was pull-start and was problematic, though it would start. I sold it for $400 and replaced it with a new Merc 20HP with electric start.

I am in the process of replacing the troller with a new Minn Kota and adding spot lock and GPS nav capability. I'll have the ability to add a nicer fish finder in the future at lower cost.

I can't really speak to the boats you linked. I do like Lund aluminum boats; the resorts I fish at use Lund boats and they've always seemed to do well.

What I can say is that one of the reasons my 14' Lund is good for me is because I can launch and easily handle the boat on my own. I had never launched a boat prior to the first day I put my boat in the water. I was alone and nobody was around to watch the boat ramp follies when I recovered the boat and put it on the trailer. I've gotten better since then, but I still feel like amateur.

One thing worth mentioning is that a flat deck in a fishing boat is a big deal to me. I've fished V-bottom boats that just had the V-shaped interior of the bare aluminum hull as the deck. For me, it gets tiring after a few hours. My boat already had flat decks throughout when I got it, and I improved them this past winter. Good decks are evident in some of the pics you posted, and that's worthy of consideration in my book.

The anchor setup on that Lund would be handy. I live in a windy area, and working shallow or obstructed areas can be problematic. Manually lowering and raising the anchor gets tiresome when I'm fishing alone, especially as the weeds thicken as the summer wears on. Spot lock on the new troller is the biggest reason I'm upgrading that capability.

Good luck and have fun!

Also check out Craigs in the St Cloud area, just a little different than the cities. I bought a Lund Mr Pike and my current boat motor on St Cloud craigs.

Now your cookin with gas!!!! You will like that 4 cyl Merc. I never owned one, but I've had plenty of them troll pass me, they are smooth as silk. And I think the power tilt that is actually part of the motor is far better. Looks like a pretty fair price. I'd be driving down to see that one asap.

By the way, cudoz to you for doing your home work and not running out and buying the first thing you see.
