F115 IAC not receiving signal from ECU?

Diagnostic software is not a substitute for active troubleshooting. It tells you want is and isn’t happening, not why or why it’s not happening Do you have a factory service manual? Have you pulled the component(s) in question to bench test? ECM stored any alarm or error messages? Have you...

    Outboard motor upgrade?

Two things actually that they don’t understand…. In the drag calculation, the “flow speed of the object relative to the fluid” is squared, not doubled Going from 10 to 20 mph is not (10+10 = 20) (10 x 10 = 100) The bigger influence….Lift. At speed, planing hulls are designed to raise out of...

    Prop, or Engine Issue?

The difference is that you see them as a “classic” motor from your past. Later generation(s) see them as “vintage” (nice way of saying old) motors, that are inexpensive to buy. That combination makes them disposable should something go wrong. Bear in mind that vocational training in public...

    Depth sounders and Old transducers

One looks like a speed sensor….. Plan on writing them off and start over. Sonar doesn’t use coaxial. They use multi-conductor cabling and specialized connectors specific to the display head. It would cost more to “repair” than to start over from scratch with a new unit

How to find the best Doctor

Went through this when my wife was diagnosed with neuropathy. Don't look for a general dermatology practitioner. Narrow your search to doctors that specialize in skin cancers. We are fortunate that we live 35 minutes from John’s Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Ended up with one of the top...

Why not mount transducer well below waterline?

My thru hull transducer is on center line, 18” in front of the transom. My transom mount side scan transducer is on starboard side, 12” off center line. Generally speaking, conventional sonar is mounted outside the radius of the prop on the starboard side. Mounts on center line with twin motor...

Too much wind and rain in my face

Trying to hide behind a “windshield” isn’t the answer when push comes to shove. An enclosure of some sort will get you into 3 season boating.
