Can someone ID this Chris-Craft indicator light socket?

We are working on an early 1960s Chris Craft yacht and all of the indicator lights at the steering are bad. Does anyone know where I can find 10 replacements for these? They accept # 57 bulbs. Any help will be great! Thanks in advance. :)

2008 Evinrude E-TEC video prochure on Youtube.

I just uploaded an Evinrude sales DVD on youtube in three parts. Runs about 26 minutes combined. Picture quality is a bit lower than the Glastron video. I can't find a freeware program that lets me divide DVD files into 10 minute seconds without downconverting. Still fun to watch, IMHO. Part...

I read past threads and youtube videos on crazing and blistering and know what I am getting myself into BUT have some basic questions I can't find answers to. 1) The pix is of my hull. All the Batboat latex paint is stripped off and I am ready to start sanding the gelcoat with 80 and 220...

Putting filler in closed cell foam pourings?

I need to fill up two rear flotation boxes with pourable closed cell foam. The 2 Cubic Feet kit is just under what I will need. Can I stick a couple of empty, sealed plastic pop bottles in the foam while it expands expanding as a "filler" or will the pressure pop the cap off? I know nothing...

Newbe questions on repairing exterior hull for eventual paint/gel coating

After a long winter, I'm getting ready to restart work on the Batboat. The remaining jobs to take on are repairing and reattaching the splashwell, new Batboat detailings and new paint. Here is the problem; I know absolutely NOTHING about preparing the outside of the hull. I've come to you...

Gas can with Satan graphic on it?

I should have kept it!!! Months ago I saw it on the side of the road. An old metal gas can with Satan on it. Red can with yellow graphics. It was missing the nozzle so I left it there. I would like to find another for the boat. Can anyone point me in the right direction to the...

New coupler says "Top Holes Not For MTG"

I am close to putting my new coupler on the trailer. The last sentence of the stamped in warning says "Top Holes Not For MTG". I'll assume MTG means "mounting." What are they there for then? There are two of them and I plan to bolt one.

Are the WalMart hitches any good?

The ones at Harbor Freight look shabby. Are the Made In China hitches I see at WalMart, Lowes, Meijers... for under $20 any good? Mine is in bad shape, unfortunately welded to the trailer and bent out of wack!!!!

Rewired the trailer and lights work without the white connected. Do I really need it?

I just completely rewired my trailer lights. Everything was hooked up except for the white wire and they blinked perfectly. Do I really need to attach the white wire to the trailer? Can I snip it off at the connector or is it important? I have the standard 4 connector harness from the 96...

concerns with rewiring my trailer turn signals

The lights I have on the trailer are perfectly fine. It is the wiring that is shotedly wired and completely shot. I don't know what the previous owner did but I want to redo the whole wiring. I see WalMart has the cable but I am concerned about the quality of it. What is the proper name for...

What is this in my car? I hit a very large object on the freeway!

Last night I and a few other drivers hit a very large object on the freeway. I was going about 65 mph and it tore open the bottom of my front bumper. Thankfully, nothing else happened to the car and I made it home. However, this round thing broke loose from its mount and is attached to a...

Is it okay to keep Acetone outside during the winter or should I bring it in?

Should I bring it in or will it be okay? There can't be more than a couple pints left in the can but it's still expensive stuff. If the cold weather is going to ruin it I can put it in the stairwell but rather not have it in the house. THanks in advance.

Anyone know what this is called? Tow chain?

It is 20 foot long and very heavy. I found it on the side of the road almost in the ditch in the town I moved from a few months ago. After a week it was still there so I took it home. Could have belonged to one of the many towing companies in that area or fallen off a semi, I figure. Can...

Big bulges in deck cloth glassing work. What to do in this situation?

I had a major oops! about a month ago when glassing on csm and 6 oz woven hexel on the plywood deck. The 1.5 oz CSM layed perfectly flat (there are no problem areas in any of the csm work.) I grabbed the 6 oz woven to roll on top of it and layed it on the CSM until I got my gloves off to smooth...

    Use for extra MEKP?

It is near the end of the fiberglassing season for me. Stringers, deck, transom, and bilge are all done as of today. So far I used 14 gallons of poly resin on the Batboat. However, US Composits sent more MEKP than what I needed. What can I do with the two extra large bottles of this stuff...

Recreating the bilge. Did it do it right?

Today I finished up the bilge bowl that goes under the deck by laminating strips of 1.5 oz CSM to create a bowl. I think there is about 2 to three layers of fiberglass and with much overlap. Here is a photo with some 6 oz hexel woven extending over it which will be removed tomorrow. There...
