The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
I am getting ready to change my fuel pump on an aq131a. I noticed that it has only an inline filter before the carb, but there is no water/fuel separating filter on the system. Is there supposed to be? Should I install one of the aftermarket models? Any thoughts
I have an aq 131a with 275 currently running a 21 ss prop that runs about 4100 WOT at 30mph when all my family aboard. When just my wife and I, It runs 4800 WOT at 39 mph. I really struggle to get on plane with the family and need to decide between a 17 or 19 for the days everyone goes. What...
I have wanted to swap out my plug set this year, but have had a hard time getting a correct match here in my area. I have only been able to find NGK BP7es which NGK lists as the right plug. I would like any thoughts on what other people have used in their 131a. I just seems to appear different...
I have a volvo penta aq131a and since i got it's started fine, but the battery is going bad. It had an interstate marine deep cycle which stated the motor and power the depth finder, marine radio, etc. Should I get another deep cycle or go with a battery with more cold cranking amps? It's the...
I am going to be replacing my fuel pump on an AQ 131A and would like opinions about part suppliers. Is the Volvo part significantly better to justify the extra cost? I have been using all Volvo parts except for an ignition upgrade and have no experience using other part suppliers. Thanks
I have a 19' cuddy with volvo aq 131a/275 that when the blower motor is on the fuel gauge drops to by 1/2, charge gauge goes up, oil pressure jumps wildly, and the temp gauge shots to 250. When the blower is turned off everything returns to normal. What would you advise a starting point? checked...
I have a 1987 bassmate 195 cuddy cabin which has the european design built in swim platform. My kids want me to add a swim ladder for next season. What would you suggest for this type of boat? Thanks
This summer I replaced my prop with a volvo ss 14.5 X 19 which is much heavier. Soon after I began to hear a loud clunk when shifting into reverse. When I tried to recreate this sound on land with muffs it shifted smoothly with no noise. My question is could this clunk be the drive in water...
I have a chance to pick up a new in box pertonix electronic conversion kit and flame thrower coil for $75 from a fellow boater in our area. He bought it at a marine supply in Erie for his AQ131A and then decided to sell his boat. What are you thoughts on this type of change to aq131A?
Are there only 2 drain plugs on an aq131A for the raw water system? I thought that there was one on the inbound side before the impeller, but can't seem to find it. The manual only refers to the 2 on the outbound side of the system. Am I mistaken or is there still one left?
I have a volvo aq131a and I am in the process of winterizing it. The manual says to pull the impeller and store it for next season as long as the fins straighten out quickly. I was wondering what are the opinions about just replacing it every spring or do you reuse the old with a new gasket...
I was helping a friend change his drive oil and found it filled with Automatic Transmission Fluid. I know it should have motor oil like the engine. Any thoughts on could this damage the outdrive? It is a 275 as I said it the title.
I have a volvo 131A with 275 outdrive and it shifts smoothly into reverse gear when I first start or start from a cold engine. After cruising back about (4200 RPM WOT) to the dock about 16 miles from fishing in our local lake it makes a thunk going in to reverse. It only does this after long...
I have a volvo 14.5 X 21 RH aluminum prop that has ragged edges from previous owner and have swapped it with a Volvo 14.5 X 21 LH SS prop. I have made the adjustments to my Volvo 275 outdrive and ran in on muffs to watch the prop. Seems well balanced. The boat originally had a left handed prop...
I have a friend who wants to buy a salvage Scarab that was involved in a highway accident the boat sustained some hull damage(see link Pics). I have good experience with fiberglass rebuild for corvettes, but have limited experience with boats. He seems to think that this is a quick fix. Any...
I have 2 friends who are constantly discussing that boats left in the water at the Marina all summer suffer more damage than those of us who pull them every trip. We live within a 10 minute drive to the lake. I thought they were talking about people causing wakes and poor docking by neighbors...
I have just started to change my drive bellow using the information I found in the sticky and the online manual to a AQ131A with 275 outdrive. When I drained the drive the oil looks fresh, but there was milky oil in the drive bellow. I have no detected oil leaks in the engine. It never seems to...
