    Setting points

1977 merc 45 (4.5 hp) ls Getting ready to install a new set of points. Never done this before but seems easy enough. The points came with some GREASE and a black piece of paper. EXACTLY what do i do with these? I'm assuming the grease goes on the cam where the points ride but what's the paper for?

    Having motor issues? Check this

Been working on a motor that was not running right. Tried/looked at all the common areas....lot of work but NOTHING I did made a difference. Until I finally look at the MAIN male/female HARNESS. There was one pin that somehow was pushed OUT OF its position causing a disconnect. Very difficult to...

    67 merc 60 6hp

With the lu in a bucket of water and attached to a battery driven drill the water comes up and out of the plastic tube about a 1/2 inch. Should the flow/pressure be greater? Motor runs fine just no water coming out of the upper exhaust.

    1937 champion 4.4 hp starting

Actually I measured the compression and got 70 psi in one cylinder and 50 psi on the other. Not certain what they should be but the spread seems too much too me so I think I will disassemble and see what's going on.

    1937 champion 4.4 hp starting

What's the starting procedure for this old motor? 16:1 fuel and getting good spark. There are TWO throttle plates. The main one in the rear with a adjustable lever (not sure where to set it) and one in the front (choke). With the spark advance lever in the middle (not sure where to set it at...

    1967 merc 60 starter

Yea i only paid $40 for it just to find out the electronics is like new. Even the points looked hardly used and it's getting good spark. This one has a non stainless shaft but still in good shape. In the process changing shaft seals and impeller. Soild motors.

    1967 merc 60 starter

Pull rope starter started dragging so I completely disassembled and cleaned ALL the mechanisms. Put it all back together DRY and it's still dragging so does this assembly need grease or should it be dry or maybe the spring needs to be replaced? The spring seemed strong.

97 f and ski steering wheel remove

I removed the plastic piece and the nut. Now how do i remove the steering wheel itself? Everything is plastic so I don't know how you would use a puller or is there something to remove on the forward side of the shaft?

    Ignition coil ohms .02-.04 ?

So I just wanted to do a quick ohms check on a coil to see how HEALTHY it is. Specs say it should be between .02-.04. How does a person SEE this small reading on the scale? Multimeter is set to Rx1 and zeroed. Meter used is a micronta 22-214. I have another meter but it's lowest sitting is...
