    Project

Not much to it. Just DON'T use Pressure treated ANYTHING. It WILL eat the aluminum!!! Use aluminum angle to fabricate the substructure and then attach the 1/2" A/C plywood deck with rivets or Stainless Steel screws. Make sure to Seal the plywood before installing it. A lot of our members...

    69 Woodson Tri-hull with 68 Johnson 55hp

If you want to use OSB for your stringers, you can but...IMHO you would need to apply 3-4 layers of 1708 and resin to ensure proper strength. OSB is water resistant and pretty strong for flat work. On edge...Not so much. The fiberglass carries most of the stress for stringers but it needs to be...

    69 Woodson Tri-hull with 68 Johnson 55hp

By looking at the pics, IMHO you still have a lot of grinding left on the stringer channels. I'd HIGHLY recommend a Multi-Tool with a blade like this.. It'll cut that build up of glass fairly quickly. It may take a couple of blades butt it'll do the job. .

Blocking a Carolina skiff for paint

I'd build two "Carpeted stands each about 4' long and about 2" shorter than the height of the bottom at the back of the trailer. Tie the back of the boat to something solid and pull the trailer out from underneath the hull. Once it's off far enuf to put the first stand under it put it under and...

16' mirrocraft full rebuild with big front casting deck

Your wood needs to be sealed with more than just paint! Paint is NOT a good protectant for wood in the Marine environment. Epoxy resin is the best, followed by some other various wood sealers. I like this one. After the sealant is applied THEN you can paint. I'd also recommend adding Some...

2001 Bayliner 1750 soft spot repair decisions

If you want to do a quick and easy soft spot patch follow the diagram below. I'm sure you're aware that in most cases boats rot from the bottom up and soft spots are NOT a good sign. You should make some core samples in the transom to ensure it's not rotten too. 18 year old boats, unless well...

1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

I'd use 3" foam and 1/2 - 1" batting. Here's a drawing of how I'd do it..The interior and exterior boxing for the Outer section should be 4" to allow for stapling both on the inside and outside of the main base. Same for the Inner piece to allow for wrapping the vinyl around the base and...
