    Shift Interrupter Switch Unhooked however...

Connection info. Ok, so I checked the switch, it still works. When it comes time, I will hook it up and see if the shifter is working as it should. Forgive my ignorance. One wire to ground and one to the positive terminal on the coil?

    Shift Interrupter Switch Unhooked however...

1978 Mercruiser 140, inboard, serial number 3843732 I noticed my shift interrupter switch is unhooked, however the boat seems to be shifting in and out of gear fine. Should I leave well enough alone of hook it up and check that it is adjusted? cheers... Wayne

Push rod cover gasket replacement and distributor

I was going to use it along with the oil pan, rubber gasket (in the four corners as recommended), with the water pump gasket, as the metal on both sides is not perfectly smooth (I’ll use thin layers). Was wondering if i should use it with the rubber gasket on the pushrod cover? Other than the...

Push rod cover gasket replacement and distributor

Replaced valve cover gasket too! Ours was a constant drip and we actually were able to film where the cork gasket was sticking out and the oil dripping down. It squirted out where the rubber part of the gasket joins the cork, front, left corner of oil pan No Hitac applied I guess. I managed to...

    Ultra Black or RTV silicone?

I just bought some Permatex Ultra Black to do the oil pan gasket and water pump gasket. I just found some generic RTV, temp goes to 375’F, in my garage. Can I use this or better to use Ultra Black (temp 450’F)?

Push rod cover gasket replacement and distributor

yes, shameful indeed. We paid a pretty penny to get the original work done. I will never use Harrison Marine again. There are a few other things they missed too. Engine overheated, had the head gasket replaced. Got the boat back, they never checked the impeller or thermostat. SMH

Push rod cover gasket replacement and distributor

I used a conversion kit, so off I do with standard timing. All this to replace the push rod cover gasket!! Arrgghh... oh well, it looked like the gasket was weeping oil and I don't want to deal with another summer of oil leaking into the bilge. We have an engine rebuild and the shop put the oil...

I replaced my points with electronic ignition but procedure is the same because you use the rotor position as reference, correct?

Hey there, I switched out the points with an electronic ignition. Will this affect the procedure of setting the timing?
